Co-sponsored by the Carolina Center for Public Service, the Center for Faculty Excellence and the Office of Human Research Ethics

A core part of UNC-CH’s “Of the Public, for the Public” core strategy in the Blueprint for Next is conducting research that is community-engaged and responsive to public interests, and the first step in conducting any human subjects research is applying for approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Join us for this session in which we will explore the particularities of the IRB process for community-engaged research. Key topics covered will include:

- How to acknowledge community partners as contributors and co-investigators
- How to allow space for changes in IRB due to community input and participation
- UNC-CH models for best practices in community-engaged research
- Changes involved with the Revised Common Rule

A representative from the Office of Human Research Ethics will be available to answer questions. Light refreshments will be provided by the Center for Faculty Excellence.
