Canada Goose - 2 Lake Mallard - 4 Mourning Dove - 12 Black-billed Cuckoo - yearling (first-cycle) Azalea Pond Chimney Swift - 4 Great Egret - Lake Black-crowned Night-Heron - 2 flyovers Humming Tombstone Red-bellied Woodpecker - female at possible nest in Ramble Downy Woodpecker - female feeding young in nest Northern Flicker - female south of Azalea Pond Great Crested Fycatcher - pair Humming Tombstone Eastern Kingbird - east side of Turtle Pond Eastern Wood-Pewee - calling in Ramble south of Tupelo Field Warbling Vireo - 2 (one on nest, another nearby) NE Maintenance Field Blue Jay - 2 Tree Swallow - pair Turtle Pond near old Downy Woodpecker hole (thanks Ed. Gaillard) Northern Rough-winged Swallow - 1 Turtle Pond Barn Swallow - 2 collecting mud for nest(s) at Dana Center on Friday 6/7/19 Wood Thrush - 3 singing males in Ramble American Robin - many Gray Catbird - 2 pairs Ramble (on Friday adult feeding young in nest Lily Ponds) Cedar Waxwing - nest in Horse Chestnut NE Maint. Field, others heard in Ramble Red-winged Blackbird - 3 males Azalea Pond Brown-headed Cowbird - male at Chez Armando Common Grackle - 3 Evodia Field Northern Cardinal - 2 pairs in Ramble Bryant Park: Yesterday I passed along a report of a Connecticut Warbler at Bryant Park. The bird turned out to be first-spring female Mourning Warbler, another female and at least one male Mourning Warbler were also seen there Friday. This morning I was only able to find one female Mourning Warbler, distinguished by a large whitish patch on the throat, which was not one of the females I saw Friday. Other Bryant Park birds today: Eastern Towhee, Common Yellowthroat (2 singing males), Swamp Sparrow, Song Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow (at least 5), Gray Catbird (4).
