Apple Pay works by connecting directly to your designated bank account, allowing you to make secure in app payments either by using facial recognition or touch ID.

The Apple Pay solution was delivered as part of Aer Lingus’ new Payments Hub platform in partnership with its technology partner Voyego, the dedicated travel division of the Comtrade Group.

Dave O’Donovan, Director of Digital and Mobile Technologies at Aer Lingus said:

“We are delighted to add the Apple Pay option on our mobile app, as it is another convenient and secure way to pay for your flights.  As we add more and better functionality on our mobile app, more of our guests are choosing to browse and book flights in this way. We will continue to explore ways to add new functionality to give our customers the best possible experience.  This latest innovation also comes shortly after the launch of our new AerCredit card, which was jointly offered with Bank of Ireland, with great offers exclusively available to our customers.”

Oliver Lynch, Vice President of Business Development, Voyego, said:

“We are very proud of our partnership with Aer Lingus. Through this project, we have helped accelerate Aer Lingus’ digital transformation and the roll-out of their new innovative payment system, enabling their guests to use methods like Apple Pay and Aer Club loyalty points.”
