Support Criss Family's Medical/Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
On Monday, August 19th, Barbara Criss and her 18-year old son Dalton were in a tragic automobile accident. Barbara sustained serious injuries and, at the time of this writing, remains in critical condition. Sadly, on Tuesday, August 20th, Dalton passed away from his injuries.

The Criss family has been well-known and well-loved since moving to Clinton County, NY 20 years ago. Dr. Dexter Criss has been an organic chemistry professor at SUNY Plattsburgh since 1999, serves as the artistic director of the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir, and is the Music Director at Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Glens Falls.  Lakita Washington,  Dalton's oldest sister, is a loving mother to her daughter Kayden and an aspiring business woman. Danielle, Dalton's older sister, is a rising star in the world of theater, and she's a kind, gentle person with a heart filled with love. The Criss family has positively impacted the lives of students, faculty, staff, and community members at SUNY Plattsburgh and well beyond.

Barbara grew up in the Mississippi delta. She is a hard worker and a cornerstone of the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir and the Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church choir. She is a fabulous soprano with a welcoming, loving spirit, and she is an amazing cook.

Dalton was a 2019 graduate of Peru High School and was planning to start his freshman year at SUNY Plattsburgh this fall. Dalton loved sports; he was the football captain at PHS his senior year, and he was passionate about wrestling, winning the Section VII title in the 285-pound class. His talents extended beyond sports, however. Dalton played string bass in his high school orchestra and drums for the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir and the Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. Dalton was a kind, generous young man with a positive attitude and a smile for everyone. He was a registered organ donor, and his gift could save the lives of up to eight people and enhance the lives of hundreds. His life is a testament of love and faith.

Sadly, the Criss family’s greatest struggle is yet ahead. Please help us raise money to cover the family’s current and future costs while they deal with the emotional and spiritual aspects of this tragic accident. The money you donate will help cover the costs of emergency medical transportation to Vermont, hospitalization for both Dalton and Barbara, funeral costs for Dalton, and Barbara’s ongoing medical treatment, which could be extensive as the extent of her injuries are not fully known at this time. The money will also help the family travel via ferry back and forth to Vermont.

The Criss family has helped so many. Please help them by sharing this link and spreading the word.
