Old Dog and the Christmas Wish Hardcover – June 15, 2006

4.9 out of 5 stars 15 ratings

It is Christmas Eve, and an old dog lies in the yard, alone and forgotten. Beyond the fence something is about to happen that will awaken the strong spirit that still runs deep within his tired old bones. Whispers of a Christmas wish will reach the heavens, and suddenly anything is possible on this very special night. Old Dog and the Christmas Wish is for anyone who believes in Christmas miracles....and for those of you not quite certain.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"No one who reads this sweet story of Christmas magic will have a dry eye. The book has the deceptive simplicity of "The Little Prince" - a kind of fairy tale for grown-ups and older children. Davis is a gifted storyteller and magical illustrator. She is a Portland treasure whose emotionally honest books add a note of grace, gentleness and kindness to our lives. Old Dog and the Christmas Wish will bring magic back to the holiday of any animal lover." --Deborah Wood, The Oregonian

Christine Davis is the author and illustrator of five uplifting and inspirational books for dog and cat lovers. Her award-winning titles for those who have lost an animal companion bring comfort to readers all over the world. Breathing Fire was written after a miraculous event brought the author face-to-face with heartbreaking memories from her childhood. It was a journey she never planned on taking but the Universe had other plans for her! A sword named Clarity found its way to her hand. The playful little dragon that had landed in her book, Forever Paws, flew out of its pages and emerged as a powerful presence in her life. Breathing Fire dovetails perfectly with her books for animal lovers, for both genres address loss, grieving and navigating the road from sorrow to joy. In both cases, the path to healing comes through sharing stories.
