Where's Molly

Rate this book
A spinoff of the Cat & Mouse Duet...

“Molly Devereaux has been missing for more than two weeks, and police are still searching for the girl who seemed to vanish out of thin air. The world still wants to know... Where's Molly?”

In my dreams, I never escaped the Oregon woods.

Life after death isn't easy to accept, especially when I still feel like a ghost.

Now, I live deep in the mountains of Montana—the paradigm of beauty. But they are also the home of horrors.

Horrors that I only unleash at night.

When my pigs are allowed to feast.

It is strongly recommended to read Haunting Adeline and Hunting Adeline before reading Where's Molly.

This review might not be for everyone, this is definitely a "me issue"😅

Look, it's not a bad book but it's not a good book either. I would have easily finished this book if I had not felt deeply convicted. This review and my reasons may not make sense to many but cause I paid for the damn thing and being a Christian is a VERY important part of my life, it makes complete sense to me to be honest here.

Without the Christian aspects- the book isn't really required. I was more interested in Molly's past than her present. I was more interested in her relationship with her sister Layla and that going somewhere rather than the sex fest with Cage. I was mostly bored.

Coming to what triggered me profoundly. I ignored the swearing and skipped past taking God's name in vain and which in itself is a big no. But this is the sentence I couldn't digest, when Molly and Cage are having sex, Molly takes God's name in vain and Cage responds- "If you're asking Him to save you, then I will nail Him onto that fucking cross again. You will be my ruin, but only I will be your savior." Am sorry, but I fail to see the romance in that sentence. As a Christian, it's deeply offensive and blasphemous to me and my fellow Christians. That sentence did not even fit the scene tbh.

While there will be some people, including the author who say to me or my opinions as being too sensitive and it's dark romance and I should know better. No, am not being too sensitive. It's just a dark romance with dark themes. You cannot make a fictional character as insignificant as Cage like a god when all he has done is make a woman cum. It is the bare minimum. Writing dark themes doesn't mean you slander one religion repeatedly. You won't do that to other religions around the world. You won't call other religious people as being too sensitive, so my views on this subject are completely valid. I have been reading dark romances for a while, and no other author or book has said something majorly offensive. There is dark and then there is something called offending.

The only thing I'll apologize here for is the fact that some people wanted me to finish this and write a review on it, am sorry as I couldn't move past this. I hope if you decide to read this, you will like it way more than me.

Look I may not remember who Molly was but am gonna read anything written by H D Carlton 🫣

For people wondering what had happened to molly, it's a perfect short story with a good ending. it's nothing new, and i'm glad it wasn't darker than her other books and everything was off-page. I was scared that it might compete with Hunting Adeline but it was way lighter than that one. i think it's HD's way of giving us a break before Sibby's book! 🤧

❝Wherever I'm going, I won't go without a fight.❞

Molly – i feel like she never got a chance to heal and process what had happened to her. It's so sad that she endured a difficult life before being sold to Francesca because she only thought about Layla's wellbeing there. I was curious about her character and loved how strong she is. also feeding rapists and pedos to her pigs! ✋🏻

❝She escaped me once, and I let her. I won’t allow it a second time.❞

Cage – i thought the author would surprise us by revealing it's RIO at the end lmao but nope. Considering how short this book was, he was obsessed with Molly even before he first saw her because of her case. he's posessive and tbh threatens the girl 😭 but he was cute tho, nice person 🤭 and I love his mother. she's so freaking amazing!!

• I'm seriously desperate for Rio's book now, after knowing he let not only Adeline go but Molly too. He was also bought when he was 19, i'd love to read about his broken character. and about Legion too.

❝Just like ours, his eyes are haunted. And unlike the other men, he doesn't leer at the girls or smile when we're raped. In fact, he looks downright sick when it happens.❞

• Cage definitely has bipolar disorder. There are times when he's an amazing son, like when he gifts his mom tiger lilies because she deserves them, picks a movie and makes popcorn to watch with Molly, gives her foot rubs, and says the cutest things:

❝Why did you come?❞
❝I wanted to spend time with you. I missed you.❞

❝I will chase away all your nightmares until they grow wary of returning. They will fear me, my little ghost. But you never will.❞

when he sees your scars and says:

❝Jesus Christ, Sit on my fucking face, Molly.❞

and on the other side where he threatens the fuck out of you: 💀

❝Walk away from me one more fucking time, Molly, and I’ll make sure you can’t walk at all.❞

❝I hear you’re good at making people disappear.❞
❝Who is this?❞
❝Most know me by Z. But you can call me Zade.❞

I forgot to read the extended epilogue 😭 but it was cute. I'm seriously happy that Addie got to meet Molly and Molly got to meet Layla too. Zade is still as obsessed

❝I only hurt people who deserve it. Scout’s honor.❞
The woman rolls her eyes. ❝He was never in Boy Scouts. And he’s scary, but I can kick his ass, and I’m nice.❞

"Because staring into her eyes is the only thing I needed, to convince myself she's everything I'll ever want for as long as oxygen invades my lungs."

In this highly anticipated read of the year, the author seamlessly delivers, meeting every expectation. The story unfolds, offering closure to Molly's character, a captivating figure from the Cat and Mouse duet. While I hoped for a bit more length, this short story beautifully dives into Molly's backstory, leaving readers both intrigued and thoroughly satisfied.

╰┈➤ Molly

In the tapestry of Molly's life, she faced demons that would break the strongest. From surviving sexual assault to escaping sex trafficking, her journey was marked by unimaginable challenges. Yet, her commendable efforts to provide a better life for her little sister showcased unwavering strength. Despite the darkness that haunted her, Molly emerged as a symbol of resilience, proving that even in the darkest moments, one can find the strength to rebuild.

Molly's backstory, initially hinted in the cat and mouse duet, unfolded with poignant intensity. The depth of her trauma struck me profoundly, particularly when she shared the heartbreaking fact that she never experienced a warm hug in her entire twenty-five years. The sheer sadness of that revelation resonated deeply with me. Molly deserves an abundance of love and happiness – a soothing balm for a soul that has endured too much.

"Never have I had anyone bring me flowers, set up a movie, and rub my feet. It’s not something I even imagined for myself."
IM SOBBING 😭🤌🏻

╰┈➤ Cage

Cage took the spotlight as the main character, defying expectations set on Rio. He embodied a mix of niceness, sweetness, cheesiness, and an absolute obsession and possessiveness towards Molly. The narrative, given its brevity, lacked the intricate details of their love story – no drawn-out chase or denial, just Cage's intense obsession with Molly from the very moment he laid eyes on her.

What truly stood out was Cage's heartwarming relationship with his mother. Their bond was a testament to the sweetness and care he carried in his heart. Cage's thoughtful gestures, from gifting tiger lilies to his mom to pampering Molly with popcorn and foot rubs during their cozy movie nights, painted a vivid picture of his endearing and nurturing nature.

“You got anyone else on that hit list of yours? I'll kill as many people as you want if you keep telling me you love me.”

In this compelling short story, we finally get a glimpse into Molly's life, unraveling the depth of trauma she endured. The narrative skillfully weaves resilience, strength, and moments of heartbreaking vulnerability. Cage's character, while sweet and cheesy, adds an obsessive yet endearing touch to the story. The bond between Cage and his mother is heartwarming, injecting a delightful element into the narrative.

Now all i want is Carlton to grace us with Rio's backstory bc to say im desperate is a fucking understatement.

°˖➴ Overall, this book fulfills the curiosity about Molly's story, offering a perfect short narrative with a satisfying conclusion, delving into the boy-obsessed trope. 💌

꒰ ִ ֺ ⊹ I will chase away all your nightmares until they grow wary of returning. They will fear me, my little ghost. But you never will. ⊹ ֺ ִ ꒱

This book follows the story of the journal's girl, from Hunting Adeline, and how she escaped and how her life went after that.

So from the moment Molly appeared in Hunting Adeline, I was dying to know her story and how she got to Francesca. And what did she do after she escaped? And who's Layla? And how was their relationship, and how will it be after she escapes?

꒰ ִ ֺ ⊹ “At one point in our lives, we don’t know our soulmates at all. But that doesn’t make them any less of one. Sometimes… sometimes you just know.” ⊹ ֺ ִ ꒱

I was expecting this book to be as dark as Hunting Adeline since Molly got through what Adeline has been through. And actually, I was so scared of that, because hunting Adeline really affected me so much. But I was turned out wrong because this book is so much lighter than hunting adeline. But am I glad that this book isn't so dark?! Ehm, yes and no.

Yes, because I definitely didn't want to go through the same thing I was going through while reading Hunting Adeline.

And no, because I honestly wanted it darker. I feel like if it were darker and affected me more, I would have loved it more. Don't get me wrong, it was still dark, it was painful, and it made me cry, but I felt like it wasn't dark enough. I wanted to be affected more because, really, Molly's story is so dark, and what was written was so much lighter than her story.

꒰ ִ ֺ ⊹ Don’t worry, little ghost. I’m going to teach you how to spend forever with me. ⊹ ֺ ִ ꒱

This book is a duel timeline, and I really liked the past so much more than the present; it was more intense and it was showing us what she did after she escaped, but I really didn't like that we didn't get to witness some of her time with Francesca, and that was kind of what I came for. And I was also expecting her journal to be a big part of this book since it was what got us to know her in the very beginning. I really wanted it to be, but there was nothing about her journal.

The present time line was really disappointing. It was just smut, actually. I feel like it was supposed to show us her struggles to get over her past and her healing after what she had been through. I mean, she had been through a lot, and I feel like she didn't get the chance to heal enough. It was a little unrealistic for me.

Also the most thing that I hated about this book was how her relationship goes with her sister. I mean, she was doing all of that for her, and we get to see how important Layla is for her sister and how much she loves her in Molly's journal in Hunting Adeline. So, of course, I was expecting her relationship with her sister to be more emotional and intense when she finds her again. I expected it to break my heart and then heal it again. I really hated that we didn't get more time with them together, since that was one of the things that I was most excited to read in this book.

꒰ ִ ֺ ⊹ “I have a feeling you shouldn’t be alive. Yet here you are.”His stare is affectionate, though it borders on obsession. “And I’m so fucking lucky that you are.” ⊹ ֺ ִ ꒱

This book, being a quick read, wasn't something I loved, unlike everyone else. It wasn't enough to show us more of Molly's past. It wasn't enough to show us more of Molly's struggles to get over her past. It wasn't enough to show us more of Layla and Molly together (and it was something I really wanted). It wasn't enough to show us more of Cage and Molly's time together (other than sex). I mean, I didn't get to feel that they really loved each other.

This book was good for me. It wasn't bad; I enjoyed it. Maybe it disappointed me a little, because I was really excited to read this one and get answers. And I wanted it to be darker. I wanted it to affect me. I wanted it to touch my soul. I wanted it to be longer. I wanted the present timeline to have more than smut. And I really wanted more of this story.

This book was a sweet, spicy, and a little quick novella, but I really, really don't think that Molly's story should have been that.

꒰ ִ ֺ ⊹ I only knew him for a night, but I’ve missed him. More than I ever realized. ⊹ ֺ ִ ꒱

I would really recommend you read the cat and mouse duet before reading this one, especially hunting Adeline; it'll give you more background to the story, and I think you'll enjoy this more when you read the cat and mouse duet first.

I love you, Rio. I've always loved you. And I'll always love you.
Like you're telling me that he helped my two girls escape Francesca's house?! Omg, I would do anything to have his book right now.

*Also, I want a book for Legion; he's so mysterious, and I want to know him.

꒰ ִ ֺ ⊹ My human interaction is very limited. Especially because that’s what my pets like to eat for dinner. ⊹ ֺ ִ ꒱

OMG I LOOOOVE HER JOB
I love her so much; she's such a strong and incredible woman. Just as I said, I really wanted to see her heal and get over her past. I mean, she had been through a lot since she was a little girl, and I really wanted to be proud of her every time I saw her making progress. Don't get me wrong. I'm still so proud of her; she came so far, but I don't think that she gets the chance to heal enough.

꒰ ִ ֺ ⊹ A fire explodes in my chest, burning a path down to our entwined hands. I hope to God that it burns her, too. I want the flames to melt our hands together so she can never let go. If she wanted me to fall in love with her, she only needed to tell me. Now, she has no choice in the matter. ⊹ ֺ ִ ꒱

Omg, this man was obsessed with Molly before even meeting her (he was obsessed with her case). He was also so sweet and cute. He was supportive of her. He was so caring. And omg, don't make me start with the hotel scene; he booked every room in every hotel in their area, so she'll have no choice but to stay the night in his house. Istg my jaw was on the floor. I really wanted more of them together.

I guess, in a way, he’s been looking for you since you left, even if it was him that made you disappear.” ⊹ ֺ ִ ꒱

꒰ ִ ֺ ⊹The girl with haunted eyes and a perpetual frown, who carried a sadness so deep that it permanently altered the shape of her lips. I spent the night tracing my tongue along her Cupid's bow until I remolded her mouth to fit against mine. Because as long as I was inside her, her sadness would be powerless to my obsession. And there would be no part of her that wasn't made precisely for me. ⊹ ֺ ִ ꒱

꒰ ִ ֺ ⊹ Because staring into her eyes is the only thing I needed, to convince myself she's everything I'll ever want for as long as oxygen invades my lungs. I knew it deep in my bones the day I met her. Even back then, my soul immediately recognized hers as its other half. ⊹ ֺ ִ ꒱

I’m not so sure how I feel about this one and have more thoughts than this but essentially I feel like I just experienced it more than I enjoyed it. I think I just expected more and certain things needed more page time to develop properly (especially with Mollys sister) considering how short this was. The cat & mouse duet was much darker than this and learning about Molly and her backstory with what she went through was honestly heartbreaking and enraged me to think she went through all that and how that could be a reality for other young girls in the same situation. Now Cage.. idk what to think as things between them felt very insta lovey (which in some cases I don’t mind) despite having known each other that one night 10 years prior but I didn’t feel absolutely any connection there—no depth at all. There was one ick factor line from this book that I’m sure some know what I’m talking about and some might’ve not felt the same about it which is fine. I’m not religious by any means but it rubbed me the wrong way because was saying all that necessary?? This also didn’t feel like its own book with the “little ghost” similarity to “little mouse” and I guess it seemed like the author was trying to make cage seem like Zade somewhat. In retrospect, the duet itself was not my favorite but after reading this I feel like I liked that better? Nevertheless, I am curious about what’s ahead after who appeared lol and if Rio gets his book I would hope that doesn’t disappoint. overall this was ok

Went in with no expectations and came out pleasantly surprised <3

The characters made the whole book for me. Especially Cage (the MMC) omfds that man was so down bad for her and this was my face the entire time 🥹🥹🥹🥹😮‍💨😋🤭😌💅

No bc ur telling me he was obsessed, in love, had an elite sense of humour, wholesome asf, supportive and knew how to communicate?! PACK HIM UP BC IM TAKING THIS ONE TO GO 👹👹

And he comes with the most hilarious parent like I was legit doubling over from his mums one liners 😭🙏

Molly was cuteee and I loved her loyalty towards her sister. Her backstory was heartbreaking but the revenge scene was so satisfying. I loved that she got the hea she deserved 🥹🤧❤️‍🩹

The reason it’s not five stars is bc I’m not particularly fond of past/present time jumps and this wasn’t one of those instances where I loved it either. It’s the reason why it took me more than a day to finish. Idk it kinda breaks the flow of the story for me but it didn’t deter me from reading it tho, I was too invested with the characters to not read what happened.

The pigs were the real MVPs here let’s be real 🎀

ALSO THE EXTENDED EPILOGUE IM GNA CRY IT WAS SO GOOD AHHH I LOVED SEEING THEM ALL AGAIN EVEN IF IT WAS FOR HALF A PAGE 😭😭

Okay, let's get straight to the point and start with the positivity here; this is not as bad as Haunting&hunting Adeline. I expected more weird stuff than this not gonna lie and I'm so happy that i was proven wrong.

Uhm, yeah, now to the negativity💀. This wasn't a bad book but it's not a good one either it was boring for me even though it's short normally for a book as short as this I would've finished it faster, but like I said I was bored. there is Not much plot it's just switcing between the past and the present and the time jumps weren't done well. This could have been a bonus chapter at the end of any past book in the series instead. even Cage he was similiar to Zade (  Little mouse? Little ghost?) it would've been refreshing to meet a new mmc who isn’t just obbssesed with the fmc because she exists like where's their love ? This book was mostly smut with this guy and then meeting his quirky mom and that’s it🤪

@Kenzy Thank you sm baby for the buddy read you’re the best and don’t mind my rating ilysm 😭💖💖

“I will chase away all your nightmares until they grow wary of returning. They will fear me, my little ghost. But you never will.”

This book is the perfect closure I needed for Molly's story after reading about her in her dairy in Hunting Adeline. I had been waiting paitently for over a year to find out what happened to find that diary girl and her sister and I am so happy and proud of Molly and that she finally found a life of her own and for her little sister even after seeing and experiencing all the torture, trauma and pain.

The story dived into Molly and her backstory and how she was just a girl who wanted to love her sister. This book didn't explored her life in that dark place and the trauma was off-page but it still hurted so much to finally know her story from her perspective and to know to what extent those brainsick people broke her. Her grief over the life she was supposed to live with her little sister, her trauma and pain was so tangible, real and heartbreaking. I can't even imagine all the things they did to her and how she lived out of it enough to give a life to her sister. I liked that Molly finally have a chance to build a life where she's a part of her sister's life and I needed more of their interactions and to see how Molly is dealing with all of that but I guess now we can't.

“Wherever I'm going, I won't go without a fight.”

➸ Molly

Molly is the girl who has lived the most traumatic and painful life. She is strong-willed and capable of fighting her own demons and battles but how many battles a person can fight? From the moment she was born she's been trying her best to live a normal life until all the unimaginable things happened to her. There's too much trauma and so many scars — visible and hidden and it's impossible for her to forget them and heal them and carry on with her life like nothing bad ever happened to her, so she found out a way to live with them and Cage helped her with that throughout her journey. She was all alone until he appeared in her life and showed her what it actually meant to be cared for, loved and worshipped by a man who truly loves you.

“Never have I had anyone bring me flowers, set up a movie, and rub my feet. It’s not something I even imagined for myself.”

➸ Cage

He is the definition of 'unhinged but nice'. He had his own demons and heartbreaking past that broke something inside him and that is one of the reasons he could understand Molly and her sadness and pain so well. He might be all possessive and territorial but knew what Molly went through in her life and he treated her with care and love but not the way that she is breakable just by touching her. I think he has bipolar disorder with the way he was feeling for Molly. And trust me he's the most normal mmc ever written by H.D. Carlton. His obsession with Molly was stupidly cute and he fell first and harder for her. His relationship with his mother was one of the most precious thing and the way he's such a devoted son to her.

“She’s mine, as explicitly as the heart in my chest.”

╰┈➤ Molly and Cage

They were described at toxic and dysfunctional couple in the trigger warning of this book but all I could see was the sweetness between them. I think they are the only normal couple ever written by H.D. Carlton and to say she warned us about their relationship in trigger warnings was funny. Yes, Cage is obsessed with Molly for over a decade and he wants her and will have her any way he can but he also cares for her. I mean he went as far as to do a movie night with her, bought her flowers, took her to a dinner with his mother because he wanted Molly to feel belonged. It was actually so cute.

“You’re different,” I mumble. “Thank you for showing me how to enjoy something I never thought I’d enjoy. For respecting my body. And for giving me something to hold on to before I disappear.” His eyes soften. “You can always hold on to me, Molly. Always.”

The ending was good and the extended epilogue with Zade and Addie's cameo was everything I needed!

“I only hurt people who deserve it. Scout’s honor,” he assures.
The woman rolls her eyes. “He was never in Boy Scouts. And he’s scary, but I can kick his ass, and I’m nice.”

Now all I want from H.D. Carlton is Rio's book. It's not a want it's a NEED!

THE PLOT

Molly has been missing for 15 years and was gone without a trace. This book follows past and present timelines of Molly's kidnapping and the house she stayed in (the same one from Haunting Adeline) and where she is current day. She now works to dispose of bodies on her pig farm and reunites with one-night fling Cage, rekindling old feelings from years prior.

MY THOUGHTS

The Characters: Molly and her story absolute stole and broke my heart at the same time. The things she had to go through and how strong of a FMC she is was amazing to read about I loved it !! Cage??? Bro I would GLADLY fall in love with this man. Gimme someone who will murder anyone who looks at me the wrong way 😔🤚🏼 Cage's mom was literally so funny when I tell you I cackled at this woman I lost it LMAOOO

The Plot: This book was very short and sweet. This is a spin-off of Haunting and Hunting Adeline and I thought it was such a good novella to add to the story!! The spice was SPICING and I was living for every second of it. When I found out what Molly did for a living and then got to the graphic scenes...let's just say I could not finish my dinner. I took a couple days to read this but it really is such a fast read you could definitely binge this in a couple hours!!

Overall, I think this was a very nice add-on to the Cat & Mouse Duet (we know how much I loved that one)!! I will literally buy anything that H. D. Carlton writes I DON'T CARE! If you read the Duet and liked it, absolutely pick this up! It was graphic, spicy, romantic, and dark enough to have you on the edge of your seat. 🖤

review to come - this was an EARLY copy like earlier than ARCs so don’t freak out, ARCs are not out yet.

But all I’ll say is I missed this world, happy to be back, and 100000/10 amazing.

Oh, and Cage is EVERYTHING I have ever wanted.

i haven’t read a book in one sitting in so long!!!! i forgot this feeling 😭

although this book is so so quick, it didn’t feel too rushed. it felt like a full story and i fell so in love with cage & molly <3 i was so interested in the plot + the romance. and i really liked how it tied in to haunting & hunting.

ps: the last sentence…… got me.

“don’t worry little ghost. i’m going to teach you how to spend forever with me.” !!!!!!!!!

4.25!! if you’ve read the cat & mouse duet, this hits hard ♡ i was definietly expecting more from hunting adeline’s letters to be the plot of this, & it did feel a lil s short & rushed but other than that… h.d. carlton’s definitely ‘lil bit f*cked up’ world is unmatched ♡

I just want to say before hand that I know H.D Carlton’s books aren’t for everyone and I respect that, this is me simply reviewing books that I personally enjoyed, and that includes haunting and hunting Adeline. That is my opinion and I hope y’all can respect that.

Anyway.

Besties I devoured this book.

Mollys journey to me was so inspiring, reading about all the things she went through and surviving it made me feel so so proud of her. Her story was incredibly sad, and it isn’t for the faint hearted.

I honestly loved reading this, and I loved the little cameos of zade and Addie as-well.

I feel like this book was important, it told the story of a girl going through abuse from a very young age to then being trafficked and literally surviving it. The fact that this happens in real life makes me sick.

Mollys story had me so hooked and I loved this book.

Please do check trigger warnings before reading, your mental health matters always.

“At one point in our lives, we don’t know our soulmates at all. But that doesn’t make them any less of one. Sometimes… sometimes you just know.”

I swear that I will read anything that HD Carlton writes, and she has delivered yet again with this short story. If you've been curious about what happened to Molly like I had, then this is what you need. It is a spin-off of the Cat and Mouse Duet and written in dual past and present timelines. It was dark but not as dark as I would have liked.

Fifteen years ago, Molly Devereaux vanished without a trace. Now, she works for Legion and owns a farm with pigs who are named after seasonings. Her job is to help rid the world of the bad people who are caught, and you guessed it feed them to her pigs. It has been nine years since she has seen the man who helped her get to safety and disappear. One night, while working none other than that very man, Cage brings her the next delivery.

Molly Devereaux is so strong given everything that she's been through. Though I don't think she has fully healed from all of the trauma that she has endured for most of her life. I loved the love that she had for her sister and everything she did to protect and keep her safe. I loved her so much, and my heart hurt for her at the same time.

"I don't want to die, but I don't want to exist. And I wish with every ounce of my soul that I was never born."

Cage Everhart
is a bit undhinged with his actions, and he's obsessed with Molly. If I'm being honest, I loved it. He also has a sweet side, which surprised me. Doing things like buying tiger lilies for his mom, whom I loved. That woman had me cracking up.

“I will chase away all your nightmares until they grow wary of returning. They will fear me, my little ghost. But you never will.”

The ending was everything that I was expecting and more. I loved seeing Molly get her happy ending and, further more, wasn't expecting the tears to flow, but they did. Do not forget to read the extended epilogue because you don't want to miss the appearance of daddy Zade and Addie. I'm hoping to see more of Rio and can't wait for Sibby's books!

Favorite quotes and moments

“I want to be the only man on this entire fucking planet that knows what you feel like. And if I’m sharing this knowledge with a single soul still walking this earth, then I will be removing them from it.”

“You saved her life, Molly. Remember that. Always remember that.”

“If a man ever calls you something you don’t like, I’ll fucking kill him. I’ll always respect your boundaries.”

“I hear you’re good at making people disappear.”
“Who is this?”
“Most know me by Z. But you can call me Zade.”

“That journal saved my life, Molly. You saved my life, in a way.”

Pre-review: It's time to finally meet Molly, I'm so excited 😭

“If I had to hold her hand forever, it wouldn’t be long enough.”

I was hoping for more emotional depth between Molly and Cage, as well as seeing Molly heal from her past.

Shoutout to Rio!🫶🏽

“I want to be the only man on this entire f—king planet that knows what you feel like. And if I’m sharing this knowledge with a single soul still walking this earth, then I will be removing them from it.” Where’s Molly, HD Carlton

—dark romance
—pigs 🐖
—spin off of Cat & Mouse duet
—spice 3/5 🌶️
—TW please check before starting

Cage and Molly were fantastic in this, their chemistry, tension, and spice was so good. And I loved the uniqueness of this story. With the pigs, the quotes from Cage, the storyline, it was a quick read of a dark romance.

I really wanted to bawl my eyes out for Molly, that poor girl deserves only the best after what she went through.

I was so curious on who Molly was and what happened to her from the Cat & Mouse duet, so HD Carlton writing this book was spot on.

If you’re looking for a dark romance that will have you turning the page for more, grab this one (BUT CHECK TW FIRST), be a good girl, and enjoy!

THIS IS WHERE I BELONG HELLO🥵🌶️ This is a spinoff of the beloved Cat and Mouse Duet (Haunting Adeline + Hunting Adeline). Although this storyline of Molly was super similar vibes to the duet (kinda the same story), I LOVED IT! It was quick and to the mf pointtttt...miss H.D. Carlton was not messing around with this one. This could have easily been 200 more pages, but we got right to the spice and the plot okurrrr🤝🏼

This has been one of my top most highly anticipated book I’ve ever had the pleasure of stalking, once released this beauty was sitting on my iPad!

This was inhaled in one sitting, god how I wish it was longer, left wanting/craving/ needing to be thrust back into this dark world this author had created!

I love this authors writing and have read and loved all her releases!

I loved the way they met, infatuated with each other in just one night, he was her knight in shining armour in more ways than one, and then many years coming back together again and reconnecting was chefs kiss.

Too much focus on the past and too little focus on the present. The chapters from the past could have all been chopped down at least a few pages and some could have been removed. I would have enjoyed this more had there been at least another 50 pages from the present. It was too fast paced, I needed a more developed relationship between the mc’s and I wanted too actually see the development, not be told it happened. It all felt inauthentic to me. They were already hooked up on each other since their spicy night about 10 years ago, but I was never feeling the love. I wasn’t shown any love. Sexual compatibility? Yes. Love? No. I don’t know how or when they fell in love. I was also missing an actual plot.

“If you're asking Him to save you, then I will nail Him onto that fucking cross again. You will be my ruin, but only I will be your savior.” I’m not Christian. I’m not religous. But this is fucked up. If something similar was said about any other religion, people would go nuts. This is not romantic, not swoony and not okay. So distasteful!

I liked Molly well enough. Cage was a bit fun and swoony but that’s about it. I was mostly enjoying this because of Molly, Molly’s past and what was going on with her sister. I love Molly’s job lol.

The ending was not satisfactory to me.
She ignores him for two weeks straight without a problem (or if she had a problem, we didn’t get to see it. We got to see nothing from their time apart).
And Cage demanding they be together? Since to me it didn’t even look like Molly was in love with Cage, this just looked weird to me. It just seemed like Cage was forcing Molly to be with him.

(Edit: Don’t do what I did at first and miss the extended epilogue where Zade and Adeline makes an appearance.🌹 Unfortunately it was very short but I enjoyed it anyway)

Dnf- I’m so over the trope of the h being celibate for 9 years while the H dates and sleeps around trying to forget about her. Zade would have NEVER done this. I thought this writer would write men who don’t sleep around after they have had sex with their woman but nope. So disappointing, this was a huge anticipated release for me.

"Didn't I already tell you to keep your eyes on me? I'm in the business of making you disappear, not in repeating myself. " 🥵🫢

Where do I start? I fucking loved every second of this! I'm not sure why, but I have more love for the side characters than I do Addie and Zade.
Molly's story was absolutely heart breaking, in true H.D Carlton fashion. The price Molly paid to give Lalya the best life was so high.. She deserved this happiness with Cage and her sister. The smut was some of the best I've read from this author! I think overall, the writing was better, too.

Cage > Zade.🤷‍♀️ Every day of the week.
I'll take Sibby's book next, please. 🙌
