Commissioner's Student Council to meet Feb. 11

(FRANKFORT, KY) – The Commissioner's Student Council will meet 10 a.m. ET Feb. 11 at 300 Sower Blvd., 5th Floor, Commissioner's Conference Room (Room 532), in Frankfort.

The Commissioner's Student Council was created to advise the commissioner of education on issues relevant to high school students in order to gain valuable feedback and engage with student leaders from across the state.

There are 22 student members represented from each of Kentucky’s Board of Education districts, as well as the Kentucky School for the Blind and Kentucky School for the Deaf.

The council members are in grades 10-12 and meet with the commissioner and Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) staff, both in person and virtually, to discuss how decisions made at the state level are affecting students throughout the Commonwealth. The students provide feedback on critical issues impacting students and schools, and work with KDE staff to develop ideas to improve and transform education.
