Jay-Z had said he was retiring from music in 2004
Rapper Jay-Z has completed a marathon series of concerts across the US to mark his comeback.

The 36-year-old singer staged seven 30-minute concerts across the country in 24 hours.

Over the weekend he visited Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, finishing his tour in Las Vegas.

The hip-hop star had declared his retirement from music in 2004 but has recently recorded a new album.

A private jet was used to ferry Jay-Z from city to city where he played a variety of venues including clubs, a university and a pier.

His comeback has already run into trouble, with the Chinese government refusing permission for a concert in the country, apparently because his music contains too many profane references.

The comeback album, Kingdom Come, will be released on 21 November.
