Facing Problem Gambling Among College Students

Gambling among college students is on the increase. College students develop gambling problems at about twice the rate of other adults. Problem gamblers between the ages of 18 and 25 lose an average of $30,000 each year and rack up $20,000 to $25,000 in credit card debt. Despite these facts, little is being done on most campuses to address the issue of problem gambling. This presentation will cover the current state of the problem; why it should be of concern to colleges; how it can affect students, their friends, their families, and the college itself; and what can be done to prevent or treat problem gambling among students.
