Japanese mobile operator NTT DoCoMo has acquired a three percent stake in Nippon Television Corporation (NTV).
Techworld.nl reports that NTT DoCoMo has acquired 760,500 shares worth ¥13.6 billion (US$114 million).
The acquisition comes 11 months after NTT DoCoMo and NTV began working together on applications that tie together broadcasting and mobile telecommunications services.
NTT DoCoMo said it believes stronger ties with NTV will enable it to better offer customers a variety of exciting new services.
In January last year NTT DoCoMo took a 2.6 percent stake in another national TV network operator, Fuji Television Network, and the two agreed to work together on similar services and technology.
