I don't even know what Kisume's power is. Fire breath? Dangling from ceilings? Hiding in buckets?

I suspect she's better at startling people than Kogasa. Maybe.

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...

Does Kisume even have anyone to startle?

When you are in a bucket, you can startle whoever you please. As long as they are in the underground I guess.

I would imagine there's the rare wandering youkai (or in rarer cases, human) that stumbles into the cave every once in a while.

She does live in a cave, right, not 50 or so feet underground?

Everyone's scarier then Kogasa. Kisume falls from ceilings. Nue has made a living out of scaring people for about 500 years. Satori creeps out basically everyone in her presence. Alice chases her houseguests away with creepy dolls. Kyouko has her Echoes of Doom. Aya's unique brand of investigative journalism could clear a room in seconds. Medicine is psychotic. And so on.

Kogasa has been doing pretty well since moving to the cemetery, though

I'm guessing she's a bit Genre Savvy then. I mean, who WOULD expect the living to LIVE in a place like that?

You can't fault her dedication either. She doesn't half-ass it. She reads classic horror stories. She tries to better herself.

Unfortunately she doesn't quite get that Sanae, Reimu, and Marisa are no friends of hers.

I would put it to you that it's more of the cemetery's doing then Kogasa's. When she lived in the clouds, she wasn't very good at being scary, even at night. Still, it's hard to criticise her, not when she's working so very hard.

YOU GO KOGASA! WE'RE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU!

Sometimes it is the most minor characters who get the best conversations.

You should have seen the great triumph of Yamamamamamamamame on the old compendium. Too bad I was in an internet coma when she came back around for this one.

I make video games! Or plan to, anyway.

[up]I actually read that one as a lurker to be honest. Which is why I feel minor characters can be interesting for discussion. I was also not around this thread for her comeback, but I babbled about her a bit anyway.

Also, bucket girl pleasetongue

No.

Sorry.

Also, I said 93% before, but I had to painfully realize it was more akin to 50%. Looks like someone's gonna be all irresponsible about university-related work again this week!

Faw, you'd better focus appropriate amounts of effort on your university work or I'll come crawling out of your monitor and eat your clavicle.

When Bocaj has to act as your guilty conscience, you know you're doing something wrong.

Regardless, it's oni time.

The Rumored Unnatural Phenomenon
Yuugi Hoshiguma

Appearance:

Theme:
A Flower-Studded Sake Dish on Mt. Ooe*

Stage: The Forgotten Snowy Ancient City
The Former Streets of Hell
bgm: Walking the Streets of a Former Hell*

Spellcard Motif:
Notable spellcards: SA, DS
Oni Sign "Mysterious Powers and Disrupting Spirits", Shackles Sign "Shackles a Criminal Can't Take Off", Feat of Strength "Storm on Mt. Ooe", Four Devas Arcanum "Knock Out In Three Steps", Light Oni "Adamant Helix", Oni's Voice "Annihilating Roar"

Write-up:
What was that?! Did someone order a shounen hero?! A certain JoJo? I'm afraid we're all out of that, but we do have an extra juicy replacement in store~!

Yuugi, the Strong! One of the legendary four Devas of the Mountain! It is not for no reason that they call her "the Strong" even among the monstrous likes of the oni! But as if that wasn't enough, her skills in the martial arts are without peer! Yes, I'm talking about the oni who fights hordes of enemies without dropping her sake plate! Such magnificent control over such gargantuan strength! Please, ladies, gentlemen, don't lose yourselves when you inevitably discuss just how powerful she truly is, for the aftermath of that kind of fight has been known to lay waste to vast reaches of land! And that would not please the great Yuugi Hoshiguma in the slightest!

Yes, for all her strength and her willingness to fight with it, the great Deva also possesses a heart the size of a large and comfortable tavern! To fight over petty concerns is not to her taste at all, because all that matters in the end, is to enjoy your life and all the stuff that comes with it, especially if the stuff is high-percentage!

One can only guess how she has become such a magnificently powerful person, but rest assured that the answer involves plenty of hot blood. Hot blood intermixed with so much alcohol that it bursts into a glorious flame!

Let your heart burn, Miss Hoshiguma! May the light of your flames guide us into a brighter future!!

Relations:

  • Suika (another Deva of the Mountain!)
  • Kasen (another Deva of the Mountain?)
  • Parsee (kissyhugstime yes?)

Ah yes. Yuugi. Or as I once joked to myself "the interesting oni". Yuugi always appeared to me like the "friendly jock" of Touhou, but also as someone who isn't fully aware that the pat on the back she gives you could break your spine. I also see her as a bit of a show off when fighting (which is why she balances her saki while fighting, just to show that she can). Like you'd expect from the oni, she loves to fight, drink, fight, and drink some more.

As I mentioned during the Parsee discussion, I can see her being friendly to the bridge elf, even if Parsee does not return the sentiment, and insisting they hang out, either because she just doesn't notice Parsee's jealousy, or to prove that she can win the friendship of a youkai who appears to dislike everything.

For some reason, I never really considered how she'd act around Suika. They'd drink together, I know that much.

Would this be good enough a essay to be linked? Probably not. Far too short. If someone thinks otherwise, tell me so and I will attempt, and likely fail, to make the necessary changes.

Yuugi is the manliest person in the whole of Gensokyo. Including the men, such as they are.

'A Pearl-Studded Sake Dish on Mt. Ooe' is a cool theme, but compared to the other boss themes in Animism, it feels kind of weak...well compared to the likes of 'The Sealed Away Youkai~Lost Place', 'Satori Maiden~3rd Eye', and 'Sun Worship of Gnosis~Nuclear Fusion', anything would seem weak, but it suffers for it.

However, 'Walking the Streets of a Former Hell' is amazing. It's an oni theme.
