The four day QuiltWeek show started at the Oncenter in Syracuse on Wednesday July 29th 2015. Hundreds of different styles of quilts from all over the world are on display. The event is sponsored by the American Quilter's Society, the largest quilting membership organization in the world.
About 15,000 visitors are expected with more than 200 artists competing. There are several special exhibits like the Red, White & Blue Quilted, the Nine Patch, Stitch Like an Egyptian, the Medium and the Message, Quilts by Thomas Knauer and Studio Art Quilt Associates Wide Horizons IV.
There are competitions in hand quilted quilts, home machine quilts, and longarm machine quilts. Visitors can also vote their favorite in the WICKED Cherrywood Challenge were quilters were challenged to use the exclusive "Wicked Greens" and black to make a 20" square guilt using the theme "WICKED".
There are also many demonstrations, seminars and lectures. The show is Wednesday-Friday 9am-6pm and Saturday 9am-5pm.
