Everyday thousands of people board flights in the U.S. and many of these people are D/deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deafened. 

For people with hearing disabilities flying is hard enough. 

Something as simple as watching a movie on board can relieve a lot of the stress and ease the pain of flying! 

But not on American Airlines.

American Airlines only offers a subtitle option for select movies. The few films that do have an option for Closed Captions are the Premium movies which cost the most, therefore making flyers who need Captions pay more for entertainment then anyone else on board.

When asked why they didn't have captions their response appalled the world:
"The fact that close-captioned writing on small screens may cover the monitors."
well to many people the monitors are no use without captions! 

To make it worse no children's movies are subtitle enabled. This leaves D/deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deafened (+ more) children sad and out of luck. For they have no chance of lip reading or visually comprehending on a mere cartoon. It's not fair to withhold a movie from a child just because they can't use headphones! 

Closed Captions aren't only for D/deaf and Hard of Hearing people! 
Studies have shown only 20% of people that use captions are deaf or Hard of Hearing! Many of the users are deafened, ESL viewers, sound sensitive, or have comprehension issues. 

Sometimes after a long delay they give away free TV!
But when a flight is granted a treat of free entertainment while on board, all of the available options are not Subtitle enabled!! Why bother passing out free headphones if you need to utilize Closed Captions!

I want American Airlines to make all of their in flight entertainment enabled for Closed Captions. Providing entertainment options for anyone that wishes to use Closed Captions without forcing them to pay. Giving everyone a equal opportunity to watch great movies while soaring through the clouds!
