DCOA in conjunction with D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) completed the training of
15 senior volunteers in support of Mayor Gray’s early childhood development
program, focusing on the mentoring and tutoring of children aged 3-4 years old
in the schools. The eight week program was designed to allow
participants the opportunity to understand the behavior of children and teach new techniques to
help children read.
We are looking for our next group of volunteers. If you are interested in a rewarding opportunity, contact Darrell Jackson, Jr. at 202-724-5622 or darrell.jacksonjr@dc.gov and sign up today!

DCOA provided information and resources recently at the George Washington University Senior Prom. More than 200 seniors citizens from across the city attended the event titled "Hollywood." GW students danced and entertained the seniors, mixing and mingling the young and the more mature adults. The evening was highlighted by the crowning of a King and Queen.
The intergenerational event is held annually to provide an evening of
dance, games, dinner and social activity for the District's senior
