About the authors
Elaine L. Orr authors four mystery series, including the thirteen-book Jolie Gentil cozy mystery series, which is set at the Jersey shore. "Behind the Walls" was short-listed for the 2014 Chanticleer Mystery and Mayhem Awards. First in her three-book River's Edge mystery series was "From Newsprint to Footprints," followed by "Demise of a Devious Neighbor." Iowa nice meets murder. The second River's Edge book was a Chanticleer shortlister in 2017.
Small-town Illinois is the site for the Logland Series -- "Tip a Hat to Murder," "Final Cycle," and "Final Operation." This series features Police Chief Elizabeth Friedman -- a police procedural with a cozy feel. The Western Maryland mountains host the four-book Family History Mystery Series, which began with "Least Trodden Ground." The "Unscheduled Murder Trip" received a B.R.A.G. Medallion.
Elaine also writes plays and novellas, including the one-act, "Common Ground," published in 2015. Her novella, "Biding Time," was one of five finalists in the National Press Club's first fiction contest, in 1993. "Falling into Place" is a novella about family strength as a World War II veteran rises to the toughest occasion. "In the Shadow of Light" is the fictional story of Corozón and her family, who are separated at the U.S./Mexico border.
Elaine conducts presentations on electronic publishing and other writing-related topics. Nonfiction includes "Words to Write By: Getting Your Thoughts on Paper" and "Writing When Time is Scarce." She also presents online classes about writing and publishing. You can find her classes at LearnDesk.
A member of Sisters in Crime and the Independent Book Publishers Association, Elaine grew up in Maryland and moved to the Midwest in 1994. Elaine graduated from the University of Dayton with a BA in Political Science and from the American University with an MA in Government. She worked for GAO and the National Academy of Public Administration for many years, and for two Iowa members of the U.S. House of Representatives -- one Republican and one Democrat.
Elaine did some journalism course work at the University of Maryland and has taken fiction courses from The Writer's Center in Bethesda, MD, the University of Iowa Summer Writing Festival, and Georgetown University's Continuing Education Program.
Nancy Lynn Jarvis was a Santa Cruz, California, Realtor for twenty-five years but was having so much fun writing that she let her license lapse in May of 2013.
After earning a BA in behavioral science from San Jose State University, she worked in the advertising department of the San Jose Mercury News. A move to Santa Cruz meant a new job as a librarian and later a stint as the business manager of Shakespeare/Santa Cruz. Nancy's work history reflects her philosophy: people should try something radically different every few years.
In the course of writing seven books in the Regan McHenry Real Estate Mysteries series, Nancy took some detours. She wrote "Mags and the AARP Gang," a novel Nancy thinks was channeled through her by an eighty-three-year-old woman with a story to tell, and a little insider's book "The Truth About Hosting Airbnb." She also edited "Cozy Food: 128 Cozy Mystery Writers Share Their Favorite Recipes," and most recently, "Santa Cruz Weird," a short story anthology with contributions from seventeen Santa Cruz writers.
She has four books available in a new series, PIP Inc. Mysteries and is working on the fifth, but she got sidetracked again and is editing "Santa Cruz Ghost Stories" which will be released before the end of 2023.
She'd love to hear from you about what you might like to read.

For as long as I can remember, I've loved telling and soaking up stories. At the age of six, I was told somebody got paid for writing books and movies and television shows; I abandoned my previous ambition (beachcomber), and became a writer.
I've had stories in anthologies, on-line and print publications, including Marion Zimmer Bradley's Sword & Sorceress anthologies, on coffee cans, and the wall of an Indian restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky.
I'm one-third of Per Bastet Publications, a small publishing house based in southern Indiana.
Small town life agrees with me. I like the interconnectedness of everything and everybody. I try to remember, in my books and stories, that no one exists in isolation, but in a web of connections.
Most of my work is fantasy, science fiction and/or mystery, though I write anything else that suits the story and character.
Sharon Burch Toner is the author of the Maggie McGill Mysteries, a series of lighthearted mystery adventures featuring a mother/daughter team, Maggie and Allie McGill. The two strong, independent, and resourceful women romp through their mysterious and frightening adventures with grace and an enduring joie de vivre that serves them and the reader well.
She has cherished memories of long summer afternoons on a farmhouse porch as her Irish grandmother wove fascinating tales of the long ago world of her own childhood, giving Sharon an appreciation for a story well told. Her love affair with books began at age six when she discovered the public library in her small town. From that young age, she proceeded to devour any printed material that crossed her path.
After a life as mother, psychotherapist and spiritual explorer, writing is her retirement occupation. She says that for her writing is as necessary as food and shelter. “Writing is what I do and I love it.”
Sharon Burch Toner writes a book a year. The just completed seventh book of the series, Maggie in White, is now available in both print and Kindle editions. Work on the next Maggie book, due out late 2015, will begin in January.
She lives with her two feline roommates in southern California.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2014This was a greet surprise when it arrived. Full of interesting looking recipes that I want to start making immediately. There is also a nice section for goodies for your pets. In the back, is a great condensed section about every cozy mystery author who has contributed to this book, with a short bio and list of all their books. I am really enjoying reading this as a book. There are a great selection of munchy type items that can be used for book group meetings, as well as yummy whole meal choices. Each recipe is attributed to the author who contributed it to this book of cozy mystery writers' recipes.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2014As a devoted cozy mystery reader (and writer--The "To Die For" mysteries featuring Carrie McCrite and Henry King) I was invited to contribute to this cookbook. Oh, boy--what an honor. My friend Carrie is a, well, a "casual" cook, devoted to EASY recipes, and often inventing as she goes. Some of her unique recipes that have proved to be popular with my readers are included here. (Two or three of her cooking adventures are included in each novel and then the recipes are printed in the back of the book.
But, I digress. I, like Carrie, am a casual cook, and, after having prepared family meals for many years, often depend on long-time favorites and side trips I invent or find in cookbooks--like this one. Lots to enjoy here. I do admit, when ingredients get beyond a dozen, and instructions beyond a half page, my eyes begin to glaze over. Shucks! I'd rather be writing!
Love owning this book (I bought two copies) and sharing it.

I look forward to enjoying this cookbook for a long time to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for cosy lovers and aspiring cooks.
This book combines love of cooking and love of cosy authors.
The recipes are very varied. There's something for every taste. They are well presented and seem easy to follow.
The bonus is in the additional information on all the authors who presented recipes.

OK: confession time. Some of my recipes are in here. And a lot of my friends' and colleagues'. But you might like to see what we killers get up to when we're not committing crimes. Enjoy!
