I bought a Navigon 70 premium about 2 years ago....I'll never buy another Navigon product again!!
The first one would take 10-15 mins to find the satellites and then wouldn't charge so it went back to Germany at my cost. I had it returned to me with a repair report.

The second model - repaired - is chock full of glitches.
It doesn't take a full post code - only the first four digits/letters - which only gets you to an approximate area!!

It sometimes freezes or spontaneously reboots - usually when you need it the most! It seems to overheat.

The suction window attachment only works when warm!!! The rubber is inflexible when cold and so in winter it can't be attached until warm?

The TMC feature rarely if ever works - very annoying as this is a primary feature.

Today I wanted to go to a big hospital in Bristol and it's not even listed in the Points of Interest under Healthcare. It's a big hospital for Gods sake!!

Today was a bad day as the charger also broke where it attaches to the unit! A new one will cost me £20.

When routing it underestimates the likely time of arrival. If travelling for one hour, add 10 mins is my basic rule for this.

I could go on and on, but you get my drift....it's basically poorly designed unreliable and crap!

I bought this sat nav to try a different make as i have been disapointed with others . I have had three tom toms , the first one a basic tomtom 1 UK and ROI worked great and had no problems at all the following two were much more "up market" my second one worked for about 2 mths then kept going wrong and my third kept losing satalite signal and had to be reset all the time almost after each journey . I then bought a garmin 1440 T which worked well but didn't give me as much info as the tom tom which i missed, i.e you can have arrival time but not milage or distance to destination and to change it is possible while driving but not safe.
So i thought i would try a navigon this time , although it has been taken over by garmin the screen display is different , it is a different colour for a start and displays more info and is a sort of cross between the tom tom and garmin . Although it takes any time between 1 min and 5 mins to find a signal, once found it is accurate the screen is clear and bright and although it shows only basic details on screen out of the box , it can be set to display more ,i have mine set to show the present time , the time of arrival , distance to destination , speed i'm travelling at , and the legal road speed. i have also got speed camers warnings on mine but it will only show static camera's not mobile and it does not give a distinct beeping noise like the tom tom or garmin it is a spoken warning once only which is a bit of a shame as you could miss it if not paying attention at the time. One of the good things is that it not only shows the name of the next road you are heading for it also shows which road you are actually on so if you need to tell someone ,like a breakdown service you know exactlty where to tell them you are.

The menu's are a little more difficult to find but all the different sections are easy enough to alter once found and there are lots of places of interest to set including the usuals , airports parking petrol stations etc . The voice control works well also and is pretty good and the arm to attach it to the window is good and solid and holds the sat nav good and firm.
The only bad points for me where the lack of a beep/buzzer to warn of speed camera's rather than it being spoken (you get a discount voucher in the box and if used you get the first year for £12.95 and a discount voucher for two years traffic warning for £19.95 after discount)and the fact that the road speed is on the opposite side of the screen to your actual driving speed , they would have been better together.

Overall it is a very good sat nav and i am well pleased and would have another , hope this helps

I did not realize until I uprated my NAVIGON 70+ to the full 72 specifications, when prompted by the firm, that Garmin had taken over Navigon...that the device is really useful and flexible in use with an extremely simple hand movement over the screen. It's easy to see the detail; and the route is given with choices. This is a really good machine with a battery which at last does not run down quickly as my previous (and more expensive) Navigon model did. Very accurate destinations are pinpointed across Europe: if you put in 24 Railway Cuttings East Cheam it gets you to the door. I still have not worked out (other than using a postcode) how to get it to take me to the Railway station, bus station or airport...except that it will find a car park there! A real gripe and it's probably that I have not managed to identify how this is done... A warning, as it's not that straightforward to set up to work away from the original demo mode it comes with, do not be tempted to reboot it to do so. Unlike the other previous Navigon the action results in having to reset it from the computer...Nevertheless it is a very good machine, very useful and versatile in getting you there.
