Tamil name – Talakkaippoondu ‘shrub having two hands on head’ Seeds are used to treat abdominal obstructions; The mucilage is used as a soothing substance; Fibre is utilized in making ropes; Tender leaves are used for sauce preparing; Flowers are also useful in cooking ; Plant 

is a useful fodder.

புளிச்சன் எனவும் இம் மூலிகை அறியப்படும் ; நல்ல கால்நடைத் தீவனம்; செடியை ஊறவைத்துக் கூழாக்கி அதனை உடலில் தடவ , வலி குறையும்; காய்ச்சலுக்கு இதன் விதைகள் மருந்தாகும்;இலை கல்லீரல் நோய்க்கு மருந்தாகிறது; இலை , பூ ஆகியன சமையலில் உணவாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது.

படத்தில் - தலக்கைப் பூண்டின் ஒரு பகுதி ;இளம் காய்களின் தலையில் இரு கை விரித்தது போல உள்ளதா? அதனால்தான் ‘தலைக்கை’ ! அது ‘தலக்கை’ ஆனது!
