The Essex County Standard and Daily Gazette are fighting to keep specialist cancer surgery in Colchester. 

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence wants to centralise these services in Essex, potentially moving them to Southend, or elsewhere, leaving patients and their families facing an 80-mile round trip. 

We are not opposed to keeping services in Colchester and Southend, but local people need local cancer treatment. 

The urology surgery centres deal with bladder, kidney, prostate and testicular cancers.
