Trains are disrupted this morning after a person was hit by a train at Surbiton station.
Initial reports from the station suggested he fell from the Ewell Road bridge high above the railway line.
But one witness this morning said the death happened from platform 2 of the station.
She said she was standing on the opposite platform and heard a loud bang as a fast train came through.
She thought something had broken but realised it was an incident when a woman on platform 2 started screaming that someone had jumped.
The station was closed causing chaos for commuters.
A spokesman for the Met Police said a man had died and they were not treating his death as suspicious.
A photo taken by a reader shows the Ewell Road bridge over the rail line at Surbiton closed off.

South West Trains said it would not expect to run trains between Woking and London Waterloo until about 9.30am.
It said disruption was expected until 2pm.
Commuter Gemma Green said: "It's just awful. My thoughts are with the family of the person. They must have been in a terrible state."
Station staff confirmed there had been a fatality and said Surbiton station would be closed "for at least two more hours."
Thank you for your understanding and patience while emergency services attend to a person hit by a train between Woking - Waterloo.

Seems like a really terrible accident at Surbiton this morning. Never seen that many ambulances attending a scene there :(

Many commuters were still trapped outside Surbiton at 9am.
Stranded outside #surbiton as someone was struck by our train. Being late for a meeting put quickly into #perspective by news of fatality 😥
