Rising Stars and Guests
The Palanpur Samaj Kendra Rising Stars felicitation function held on February 23rd took place at a new venue, the Rangaswar Hall at the Y.B. Chavan Prathisthan. An enthusiastic audience cheered the community’s very special bunch of students who had shown dedication to their fields, sparkling in academics, sports and other extra-curricular activities. The ceremony began with a sweet Kathak performance by little Anika Shah, soulful singing by Utsav Shah and a terrific performance on the keyboard by Maahir Shah.
The Comperes
The student comperes Milonee, Archit, Preksha and Keyur guided the felicitation ceremony through well-timed and detailed presentation of the Rising Star’s achievements and interests. This year there were stellar achievements by Namrata Gandhi, the first lady IAS officer in Palanpur, Shefali Parikh who topped the MBBS in Maharashtra, Vidhi Mehta standing second in BAF in Mumbai University, Maahir Shah who won the Best Speaker award at the ICSE National Debate Championships and seven year old Tanay Doshi who became a Limca Book Record holder in an event of synchronized speed skating under five cars. There were a host of undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate degrees that the award winners had excelled in. Among these were three doctors, three Chartered Accountants, an IITian who did his BTech and then there were other sports accolades.
Chief Guest Shri Viral Doshi
A special announcement was made for a commendable achievement by Nishaki Mehta Oza who will be starting his Cardiology Fellowship in Electrophysiology at Harvard. Nishaki was one of the two physicians selected by Harvard after a stringent selection criteria based on clinical excellence and research track record. The Chief Guest Shri Viralbhai Doshi, a renowned education and career guidance counselor and mentor, was well suited to the occasion. It is his passion to help young students access opportunities for higher learning and guiding them to choose optimal career paths. Viralbhai spoke about the importance of following one’s passion to succeed and not to worry about failures. He urged the parents to support their children to pursue their passion with all conviction even if they did not conform to their beliefs. He said let the kids give their dreams a fair chance. He encouraged the students to work hard, hard and harder and to leave no stone unturned to achieve their dreams. Very good speakers, amazing cultural performances and crisp timely compering helped the programme sail through with ease. - Vibhaben Kothari
