- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2020This book is a must have for anyone starting the job search process, especially if you are changing industries. Possible interview questions are provided, each with a description of what a potential employer would consider to be a perfect, yet still personally relevant, answer. This book gives you insight into what an employer is really looking for in a candidate. I practiced detailed answers to all of the questions/scenarios addressed in this book and I’ve entered every interview with confidence. Every question that has been asked in the 10 interviews I’ve had (all with the same 2 companies) were questions for which I already had a prepared response. Every question. I consider this book to be a necessary guideline for qualifying for each subsequent phase of the hiring process.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2014It is a good book for people who have not been experience in interviewing in new industry or orgnisation. It could not only give you knowledge, but enhance your confidence of speaking and behavior to interviewer.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2013Paul is a wonderful writer. He has a keen ability to work magic with resumes as well. This book will prepare you for interviews, however for a reasonable price, Paul transforms resumes, LinkedIn profiles, cover letters and thank you letters. He does it within days. Paul's company is called Shimmering Resumes. Together, they are the perfect match to help you with your job search.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2013I last interviewed about 10 years ago and that from the side of trying to fill positions. I can tell you that the techniques described in the book are no more relevant and current than those I used 10 years ago. The book correctly states that interviewing is about more than memorizing "correct" answers to lots of questions - so therefore the author chooses not to give you a list of questions. Well, that's OK, but I've learned a lot more from short lists of questions from web sites than I was going to learn from this book. I can't disagree with any of the information, I just think that for adults who have interviewed before there is not going to be much useful information here. For a kid just coming out of college who hasn't been through the process before, the general information presented is fine.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2016This book has good explanations and examples. It makes you think about things you never considered before. How to frame your answers. I would recommend this book to anyone job hunting. 4 stars because it covers "what are your weaknesses" but doesn't specifically cover "what are your strengths". I know the rest of the book is about promoting yourself and you figure out your strengths from reading the entire book. I would have liked a chapter specifically on strengths.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2014This book provides a step by step approach to the interview process and has a lot if great pointers. It's a great reference with a lot of god advice.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2013This book is excellent for beginners!!! At least to know where to start. This book also gave the examples of possible questions.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2013I'm not much for self help books. However, this book goes beyond refreshing the basics and gives an updated approach to the mind of the employer and interview tactics. Well worth the purchase!
