Description

Looking for some hands-on area and perimeter practice that is fun and engaging? Then have students play this area and perimeter game with 8 sets of cards. Students will measure the perimeter by counting line segments or adding sides. Students will find the area by counting squares or multiplying side length and width.

HOW IT WORKS

Students select a set of cards (see below) and play on a game board. Students use the student directions, answer key, and optional recording sheet to play. Just supply game markers and dice or penny, and students will have fun practicing finding the area and perimeter with a Math Heroes-themed game board.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

  • One game board
  • 8 sets of cards.
  • Each card set has the students find the area or perimeter in a different way
    • Set A: Find the perimeter using line grids.
    • Set B: Find the perimeter using measured sides.
    • Set C: Find the missing length given the perimeter.
    • Set D: Find the area using squares.
    • Set E: Find the area using measured sides or the formula Length x Width.
    • Set F: Find the area of connected rectangles and squares using the Distributive Property of Multiplication.
    • Set G: Find the perimeter and area using measured sides.
    • Set H: Find the perimeter and area using squares.

ALSO INCLUDED

  • student instructions
  • answer key
  • an optional recording sheet
  • labels for storage
  • review posters for area and perimeter
  • and suggestions for using the cards in other games or ways
