FA suspend ticket sales for England vs. Switzerland Euro qualifier

The Football Association has suspended ticket sales for the European Championships qualifier with Switzerland because of a proposed tube strike.

The FA says it has made the "temporary" move in order to allow "transport providers to ensure they can manage current ticket holders' journey to the stadium on the night of the game."

Last November the capacity for a fixture between England's women and Germany was capped at 55,000 because Wembley Park tube station was closed due to planned works.

That resulted in chaotic scenes, with almost 10,000 of those 55,000 who bought tickets unable to make it to the stadium on match day.

The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers has set dates of September 8 and 10 for strikes if an agreement cannot be reached regarding pay and conditions for an all-night service.

Press Association Sport has contacted the FA to ask how many seats remain unsold for the Switzerland game and is awaiting a response.
