So I do CrossFit, and these shorts are pretty much perfect:
Good weight. Not too heavy to run in, but not flimsy and blow all over the place either.
Dry. I did a competition in these all day, and was swamp-ass free despite sweating up a storm
Lots of room in the crotch and butt.
Slit on the side is very nice for squats. I've got no limitation in range of motion wearing these shorts, and I squat pretty low.
They have held up very well, although I've yet to put them through a Tough Mudder or Super Spartan or something...I'd like to see how well the hold up then.
Sizing: The sizing appears to be pretty true to my (as an example) Levi 569's. My hips are right at 40" measured with a tape, and the 36" waist is a bit loose. I have to draw the string pretty tight. My 36" waist 569's fit exactly the same. The 34" waist I bought later fit perfectly. The problem is that the velcro fly and top closure are connected, so if the fit is a hint loose and you try to "tighten" the velcro top closure...your fly is gonna be crooked. It's not a big issue, but I'd think carefully about what your size actually is. (Again: 40" hips for me = 34" size...and these ride right at the hips)
But for real I don't think you can go wrong. Since these aren't Prime you should also check out the manufacturer's website just sayin'.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2015I got these shorts for crossfit a month ago and have been very pleased with their fit and performance.
Overview: The shorts are constructed of a flexible fabric, have a velcro waist and fly, and a draw-string
1) Fit: I wear a 34 pant and the 34 in these shorts fits me very well. I first ordered the 32 based on other reviews that indicated that they fit large, but the 32 was a bit too snug for my taste. The shorts are comfortable; I wish I could get more general purpose shorts that fit this well.
2) Performance: The shorts are very flexible and do not inhibit mobility at all, despite them being a relatively long short (which I like because I am tall). I was initially concerned that the fabric would not hold up but I have not had any issues.
Overall good workout short at a reasonable price. I would consider getting them again if I need another pair.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2014I am a 29 year old guy who has been doing Crossfit for about a year now. I will admit I have only used them once, but can't wait to use them again. I was looking for a pair of shorts that are heavy duty, but light and comfortable. These are it! They are great for doing squats, provide tons of stretch, and don't catch you in the wrong areas. The waist band is solid, along with the drawstring it prevents them from sliding down your waist. The material is very breathable, and keeps you quite comfortable. I'm in Florida, and crossfit year round so when it gets hot it's sweltering.
As far as sizing goes I wear anything from a 34 to a 36, granted I have more room in a 36. I bought these in a size 34, and they fit comfortably. They don't cinch my waist and limit mobility at all, they don't slide off, and are a snug fit.
I will update this review in another week or so. I read that they may "pill" when you wash them so, I am going to air dry them on a line and see what that does.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2015I signed up for a SuperFit CrossFit completion and decided to give these a try. Comp day consisted of three workouts (should have been four but my teammate and I had a serious brain fart during the last workout and we ended up in sixth place after being in 1st and 3rd after the first two workouts) and I have to say that I'm impressed. The workouts included Snatches, Row, Front Squats, Deadlifts, Box Jumps, Cleans, more front squats, etc. I have to say that these shorts fit so comfortably, and dried super quick after each workout that I've written off basketball shorts for good. They moved very well with my body and are very light. I would have to say that this is the first time after, during, and before a Wod I didn't have to adjust my shorts. Once I put them on, tightened the drawstring, I forgot about them. I completed multiple stretching sessions, which included my legs propped up on an elevated shelf, and these just moved and reset without me having to touch them at all.
I wish brand name WOD shorts were this inexpensive. I plan on ordering 5 more pair after completing this review and will wear these to the gym, and likely when out and about.
I checked alibaba (wholesale) and these cost about 11 a pair to make, so I feel they are fairly priced. I guess I could wholesale myself, but I don't need 50 pair.
Oh, some people complain about the length. I'm 6'2" and feel the length is acceptable, because they move so well they rise and fall appropriately.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2014Depending on how you use these shorts and your expectations they may be what you want.
From experience, the high end grappling shorts Hayabusa/Sprawl/Clinch/Venum (in order) are all made and feel better to train in.
For workout shorts they could work - the side 'flaps' on the short for striking aren't quite as large as other MMA shorts like Hayabusa but are still quite noticable. The length goes down to the knee caps and I felt there was a lot of material there i.e. a little too flappy as one other reviewer has noted.
They fit true to size, have no pockets and are completely black w/no logos.
For the price they can work, just be aware you aren't getting a high end short at half the price here.
