Dr Rohit Jivanlal Parikh, distinguished professor of Mathematics, Computer Science and Philosophy at City Uni., of New York, recently conducted an extensive lecture tour across USA, Europe and India during which he addressed audiences on ‘The use of epistemic logic and game theory to understand society’.
The tour began in mid-October when Dr Parikh delivered a lecture in Stanford University and continued till mid-January with a series of lectures in prestigious institutions across India. These included universities and research institutes such as Université de Lorraine, France, The University of Amsterdam, Bristol University, IIT Bombay, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, and Institute of Mathematical Science, Chennai.
Dr Parikh completed his schooling at Children`s Academy, Gamdevi, where his mother late Shashiben also taught, and his Inter Science at Elphinstone College, Mumbai standing 2nd in the University. He completed his studies and doctorate at Harvard University, initially on scholarships from The R.D. Sethna Trust and the Mahavira Jain Vidyalaya, with subsequent scholarships from Harvard itself. He has been teaching in the US for the last 45 years.
