Boooo. I liked "Reflection" better, especially with the leaves changing. Fire is pretty lame, all the entries are going to look similar.

taken 9/19 not eligible. Fire in Herriman, UT. I had my 400 set up on this place as I watched the light behind the ridge slowly get brighter. The house looked to be well over 5k sq feet... prob closer to 10k... I was convinced I was going to watch this place get torched. Pretty scary and exhilarating at the same time.

Ah, dude, you didn't have to change it! I was just pointing out we'd done that before. In fact, I didn't get to enter for that one (cause I started it), so I was kinda looking forward to it. Maybe, I'm just tweaked case this one is tuffer, which isn't a bad thing....
This is the worst pain EVER!

Fire side nap.
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

Not eligible, taken before contest. I like this picture save for how incredibly soft it is. The nifty fifty was on a tripod and I focused this manually the best I could so I think it was focused on our baby but at 1.8 I just can't figure out how to make that lens work.

Thanks for the advice and sorry for the thread hijack.
1/50th on this shot at ISO 3200 (where the T2i still takes pictures good enough for the web) and yes there probably was a little subject movement and cam shake, but still, I think it should be sharper. The Tamron 17-50 sharpens up above 3.0 (really good at like 3.2) but it is still reasonably sharp at 2.8 especially above 25mm and of course my 70-200 F4 is perfect at f4 but that is comparing apples to oranges I suppose. If I have to go to 2.8 to make this lens work I wasted my money but I'll play around with stuff around F2 and I have a new remote control that I can use to control cam shake. The one and only good picture I have taken with this lens was at f8 - and it is in fact very impressive and sharp as hell, but that's not what I bought the lens for so I'll play with it some more and start planning for a better, faster prime.

some good pics so far. I'm waiting to find something more interesting than the campfire shots thatve already been covered..
We've won it. It's going to get better now. You can sort of tell these things.
