Cesaroni 38mm Reloadable Motor Starter Set

There are too many shipping regulations. We're a small company, and we don't have the manpower to track the regulations for each country in the world. So to keep our prices as low as possible, we only ship to USA customers. Your next question is "where can you get these motors then?" Unfortunately, we don't know the answer to that question. You might have to do an internet search for them, or contact the motor manufactures directly (Apogee Components is not a motor manufacturer).

The Cesaroni 38mm motors are unique. Instead of purchasing a metal aft closure (like all the other reload motor sizes), a throw-away aft closure is included with the 38mm propellant kits.

What this means is that each time you assemble your motor, you use the aft closure included in the 38mm propellant kit, then fly the motor, and throw away the leftover propellant gunk and aft closure.

What this also means is that if you are using any sort of rear-end retainer system, the motor will just slide through the retainer until it is fully assembled (including the propellant).

Yes. The casing is what holds the propellant together in a proper manner, so that it will burn and eject correctly.

The motor mount tube and retainer hold the whole motor casing/propellant set inside the kit, so that it doesn't fall out of the rocket. You need both parts in order to fly the rocket successfully. See our video on the differences between Aft Closure versus Retainers.

If the igniter will fit into the nozzle of your rocket motor, it will probably work fine for launching the rocket from the ground. But will the igniter fit? We made a special page called the igniter chooser that will help you determine if your igniter will fit into a specific rocket engine. You select the igniter, and it will create a list of all the rocket engines that igniter will fit into.

We have a special tool where you select a particular rocket motor, and it will display a list of ALL the kits that we recommend that motor. You'll find that tool here. It works great for that situation where you have an extra motor in your range box, and you don't know what kit it might work with.

There are many ways to clean a casing and every rocketeer has a favorite. Some use a toothbrush and white vinegar, as detailed in Peak of Flight Newsletter 159. You can also use soap, water and a stiff bristle brush (like the ones found here). Whatever way you choose, remember to give the threads a thorough clean to keep your closures screwing on smoothly.
