Timeless beauty! Sophia Loren, 81, stars in new Dolce & Gabbana lipstick campaign modeling a shade that the designers made in her honor

Iconic beauty Sophia Loren has received a very gorgeous gift for her 81st birthday: Dolce & Gabbana has given the Italian actress her very own lipstick shade.

The 'bright cherry red' hue, simply named Sophia Loren N°1, was released today, just one day after Sofia turned 81. Touted as Sofia's 'signature', the bold color comes in a gold tube stamped with her actual signature and retails for $37.

'Sophia Loren N°1 is our way of saying, "Thank you, Sophia!"' the designers, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, said. '"Thank you for [your] beauty, thank you for being a world favorite, thank you for being an icon of the big screen and of Italian beauty." She has been a constant source of inspiration for us and today we celebrate her with the gift of her very own lipstick.'

In the new campaign images, Sophia wears a romantic black lace dress and multicolor collar necklace as she poses with her personalized lipstick and a matching gold Dolce & Gabbana compact.

A 40-second behind-the-scenes video also released by the brand show quite clearly that, with an impressive 64-year-long career under her belt, the Academy Award winner still has no trouble being completely captivating on camera.

The newly-released lipstick is available to purchase in-store at high-end retail locations like Saks Fifth Avenue.

For such a timeless beauty, it should really be no surprise to that Sophia landed a beauty campaign as an octogenarian - at the very least, it's certainly not surprising to her.

'You have to be born a sex symbol,' she once said. 'You don't become one. If you're born with it, you'll have it even when you're 100 years old.'

Though she hasn't quite reached that landmark age yet, she has also shared one of her secrets to defying Hollywood's rules for aging actresses: ''There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.'

Sophia made her film debut as an extra in 1951, soon going on to star in Houseboat with Cary Grant, the award-winning film Two Women, and Marriage Italian-Style.

She racked up several awards over the course of her career, including five special Golden Globes and a BAFTA.

Her face also graced the covers of countless magazines including Life, Cosmopolitan, French Elle and Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar, and Vogue.
