The weirdest thing happened!

I painted a Megatron purple and somehow it's NOT A GALVATRON!

Nope! It's a Cyclonus! This is my custom TFA Cyclonus to round out Team Charr and get me ONE BOT AWAY from having a show-complete set of Decepticons!



This figure started out life as a two-pack TFA deluxe megatron. I started out just thinking I'd paint him purple and add wings, but he was way too chunky in altmode, so after lots of trips back to the drawing board I settled on making entirely new legs to form Cyclonus' iconic fuselage using the basic transformation idea behind TFA leader megatron's legs.





Those red things are his swords. I made them from TFA deluxe Megatron's stupid banana-blade-cannon. On the show, Cyke's swords were purple, but A. I didn't want to have to hunt town trans purple paint and B. there's already plenty of purple going on over here.





His wings are off HFTD terradive. His cones are nosecones off the two TFA Blitzwings I just happen to have turned into Scrapper and Highbrow. His tailfins and hip-pouch-scabards are off TFA Blitzwing as well. His kneecaps are the things on the end of TFA deluxe megatron's wings.





The red windscreen is a clear plastic spoon chopped up and painted red. The front landing gear is off Terradive. The very tip of the jet nose is made from two pen caps. Everything else you see is scratch built from styrene and apoxie-sculpt.





The swords can store on his hip scabbard things in botmode. Or hang off his wings in either mode.





In altmode they can point forward or backward. I'm undecided as to which looks cooler.





They can hang off the wings in botmode too but it's a little awkward. Kindly refrain from noticing how sloppy the backs of his legs are.  





Here he is with the rest of his Team Charr buddies. Blackout assures you he is NOT standing on a box to look taller. You can see more of Spittor and Strika by clicking on their names.

What are you using to attach the wings, out of curiosity?

 

Alt mode is dead on.  

 

I do like where this is going. (this coming from the guy that generally boycott's most aminated toys based on chinciple)

Is there a way to maybe reverse the arms, or double joint them to get the wheels out of the way?

 

Kneaded eraser. It is by no means permanent. I will probably cut the wings down to fit a little better so he won't be quite as wide.

Well, I suppose I could simply remove the wheels. It's not like I'm going to spend a ton of time rolling this guy back and forth on my desk. But on the other hand I don't think they're too obtrusive as is.

 

Nice work on the alt mode!

The great thing about customs is that we don't have to nerf all the pointy bits, so yeah, he IS sharp! He'll be a deadly little purple lawndart

He doesn't quite yet, but I know that when you're done it will look like it has stepped straight out the show! The alt. mode is spot on so far. Won't this complete your team Charr?
