Isle of Man. A book about the Manx. Text and photographs by Christopher Killip. Drawing by David Parfitt. Map by John Thompson. Preface by John Berger. Brief snippets of historical texts about the Isle of Man appended. Arts Council of Great Britain, London, 1980. 96 pp. Quarto (10.5 x11.5 in./29.5 x 26 cm). First edition, first printing. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by Killip on half-title page, 'For Bob/In Friendship/Chris K.'(from the library of Robert Gardner, the well known Harvard anthropologist and documentary filmmaker). White cloth with bold black debossed title. 69 black-and-white reproductions.

Killip's brilliant paean to the people and the landscape of his native island. As John Berger says in his preface, Killip's photos brilliantly reveal "both the experience of the people of and the character of the place," each one inflected by the other.
