University of Arizona ranks No. 67 among world's top universities

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The University of Arizona has ranked among some of the best universities in the world, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The publication ranked UA No. 67 among the world's top academic research institutions.

The Best Global Universities ranking puts UA at no. 67 out of 750 higher-education programs across nearly 60 countries, according to a press release.

It's the only university in Arizona to be included in the top 100.

In individual categories, the UA ranked No. 6 for its space science program.

The campus also placed in the top 100 positions for other disciplines:

  • Geosciences, No. 29
  • Plant and animal sciences, No. 32
  • Arts and humanities, No. 42
  • Environment and ecology, No. 42
  • Social sciences and public health, No. 65
  • Economics and business, No. 84
  • Psychiatry/Psychology, No. 70
  • Agricultural sciences, No. 88
  • Neuroscience and behavior, No. 100

The rankings were based on factors like research reputation, books published, number of Ph.D.'s awarded, publications, and international collaboration.
