IRIS (The Wild Side Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 360 ratings

IRIS (THE WILD SIDE #2)
ARE YOU READY FOR A TWIST?
Who is Iris? Where did she come from? Where has she gone?
Alasdair Masters has more questions than answers about his new, too young obsession, and when he finds out she’s been lying to him, from their first meeting to their last one, he’s more confused than ever about her feelings, her intentions.
And what’s just as confusing are his own feelings. Has he turned something purely physical into something emotional in his own head? Is any of it mutual?
The only thing he doesn’t question is whether he’ll keep going back for more.
DAIR
Me, I was simple. I was order. A very neat, efficient machine that ran on nothing but air.
Me plus anyone else, well, that was another matter. And me plus Iris, that was a monster of a machine, with all gears going at different speeds, some spinning off their hinges, just going mad, but it was a wonderful madness, at full throttle, misfiring in all directions.
It felt wonderful and dreadful.
I was breaking down, and it felt amazing.
And terrifying.
This book is intended for readers 18 and up.

This was another great short read that despite leaving me even more clueless as to who Iris is and what’s trouble she’s into, I still enjoyed. This book picks up several weeks after she left Dair in the last instalment. Thankfully Dair has tried to get on with his life, keeping himself busy etc, but is still clearly crazy about Iris. After obsessing about her in the initial weeks after she left, he comes to terms with the fact that he might not see her again, only for her to randomly show up at the coffee house he was in. Of course the two hit it off instantly (the sex-scenes in this were even hotter than in book 1 believe it or not) almost as if they haven’t been apart and Dair finds himself torn between wanting to ravage her right there on the street and getting answers to the many questions he has. Who is she? How old is she really? Where has she been? What’s all the gambling about? Who is the mysterious guy in the jaguar? Why does she have to leave him every few days, sometimes for weeks at a time? Funnily enough, these are questions I want answered too. Do we get them? Hell no! Instead the two play this seemingly game of 2-days-on-2-days-off and although it frustrates the hell out of Dair, he is too far gone into her to stop it and demand answers. He comes close to doing this though when he discovers a bunch of fake-Ids in her purse, but as ever, Iris remains cool and doesn’t tell him quat….claiming it’s too dangerous for him to know.
Then just when things are going well, Dair receives a letter after she has been gone for yet more weeks. Its’ from Iris and it totally devastates him. A cliff-hanger….oh yes….but the sneak-peak at book 3 helps a little and I’m thankful I don’t have to wait too long for it.
I loved the appearance of Frankie and Estelle from the ‘Up in the air’ series. I was holding me breathe to see if James would show up, but no…..although his ‘sex-tape’ and the Cavendish resort is mentioned.
Also loved the teaser from Mr Beautiful. Nice!

R K Lilley is one of my most favourite writers. Her books never fail me. I've always loved every character she's ever written and this series is no exception. I can't wait to read the final book in this series and find out what the hell's going on with iris.

The book starts a few months after the last one with Dair still missing Iris. We meet his friend in this book who he confides in but I found some of those conversations boring and uninteresting, I just wanted to read about Dair and Iris. Iris turns up again and is still as mysterious as ever but Dair's friend meets her and tells Dair she is definitely younger than 24 which is how old she told Dair she was and she had showed him her ID. He becomes a bit obsessed with finding out the truth about her age and it leads him to lose his temper a few times with Iris but then he instantly regrets it when he does (at these times, he seemed to be acting a lot younger than a mature 40 year old man).

Again the story is told entirely from Dair's POV (the author is good at writing the male voice). The book ends as Dair finds out something else about Iris. The author has added a few clues as to who Iris might be...onto the concluding book.

Holy Moly! Love Love love Iris and didn't expect the story to take that turn of events.

Dair, still stuck on the age gap between them, but they do seem to work well together.

Love how Dair tried to get his life together after iris left at the end of Wild.

She was a little minx, and didn't have any qualms about getting what she wants, using whatever was there to get it!

Their sex life was smoking hot bordering on the indecent!

Loved how you brought some of the character and references from the Cavendish Empire! IE Frankie and Estelle!

I love the dramatic cliff hangers,m not as a rule! but this series needs it, but it would also make a great read when you have the whole story! and then reading a little bit of the next chapter helps to get over the cliff hanger!

Looking forward to the next instalment!

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!!

Here we are...desperate again!!! This books start with a desperate Dair and leaves the reader desperate to get answers at the end.
Poor Dair is desperate to meet Iris again. And when he does, he's left with more secrets, lies, a twisted truth. But one thing is for sure...the heat, the passion, the fire between them is real! R.K. Lilley writes some steamy, hot scenes that leave you panting and needing a cold shower.

When it comes to the story? I have no f***ing clue! I thought I had a clue in book one, but now I'm totally clueless! I have the feeling that things aren't like they seem to be. It's definitely messing with my head. So good and I can't wait for book 3 at the end of July!

And if R.K. Lilley wouldn't be a great writer, she adds a excerpt from the upcoming book 4 in the Up in the Air series, Mr. Beautiful. What can I say? I can't wait to read it!!!

I enjoyed this installment even more than the first one. R.K. Lilley never ever disappoints. There sure was a twist and I can't wait to find out more. Who is Iris? Is she safe? Is Dair in danger? The sex scenes burned the pages!!! Like I said ...R.K. Lilley never disappoints. Oh and we got our first sneak peek of the TYRANT and so looking forward to his story being told.

Wow I'm speechless on this book. It has everything, suspense, love and hot sex scenes.

It's just a shame it's so short but who knows where this story will end up.

I love both Iris and Dair, I can't wait for the next book

5.0 out of 5 stars Want more! NEED MORE!!!

Let me just start this review by saying... I was in the middle of having a shower when BOOM! The water shut off. Turns out a pipe had burst in our area and it would be hours before we had any water. I still had conditioner in my hair. This book! Is what got me few the next couple of hours!! Yay for Iris!!!

Anyway, back to business! Im at a loss for words after finishing this book. I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Iris and it did not disappoint. To say that I was left with more questions than answers after finishing this book, is an understatement. Iris is just as much of a mystery as she was in The Wild Side, if not MORE so. As much as it frustrated me, I was like an addict! I HAD to keep reading. I HAD to know more! I must of been feeling only an inkling of what Dair was going through with the ever-illusive Iris! "How had I forgotten how stunning she was? How captivating?"

Dair... he is literally a man obsessed. And you cant help but sympathize with him in this book. He knows next to nothing about Iris, aside from what she chooses to share with him. And even then, is what she telling him even the truth?? In this book, Dair is torn between wanting answers to questions Iris is unwilling to answer, and simply just wanting to be with her, no questions asked. Can he be with her not knowing anything about her? "I'd started writing everything about her down. I didn't want to forget. The color of her hair. The depth of her eyes. The stubborn shape of her jaw. The way her lips shaped words with such expression. The way her voice made my chest ache. The way she made me feel-Alive. I wanted, I NEEDED to remember the real Iris."

I couldn't help but think to myself that if the roles were reversed and Iris were a man and Dair were a woman, my tune on this storyline would be very different. I'd be labeling her a weak female lead and calling her a door mat. But she's just so.... MYSTERIOUS!!! And I can understand why Dair keeps going back for more, despite knowing that it can only end in heartache. You can't help but feel for him. Even though this situation frustrates the ever living hell out of me, I can't help but want the best for this couple. I love Dair and Iris together. I want their HEA.

Overall, Lilley did a great job with this book and I cannot wait for the last book release!!
