is recruiting for a Executive Administrator - Board of Nursing position to join our team.

The Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing is seeking a Master's-level R.N. to administer the state's nurse licensure program as Executive Administrator of the Board of Nursing.
 
Duties of this position include but are not limited to-

The Executive Administrator of the Board of Nursing will use advanced knowledge of the principles, philosophies, and practices of nursing to:
  • Administer the statutes, regulations, and policies of the Board of Nursing, Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing;
  • Work closely with the Board of Nursing to implement their mission and to analyze national trends and best practices for policy review;
  • Perform review and approval of complex nurse licensure applications;
  • Draft professional correspondence requiring knowledge, background and education in the field of nursing;
  • Supervise seven staff members responsible for licensure of nurses and nurse aides; and
  • Provide expertise concerning nursing issues, such as scope of practice, education, discipline, and licensure.

  • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university;
  • Licensed or eligible for a license as an RN in Alaska;
  • A minimum of five years' experience as an RN;
  • Experience in providing in-patient care;
  • Proficient and knowledgeable about all aspects of nursing and nurse aide practice;
  • Administrative experience in leading, managing, and organizing a program;
  • Direct supervisory experience of a team of three or more people
  • Knowledge of adult teaching theory;
  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand, interpret, follow, and explain complex state statutes and regulations, federal codes, and reports of the National Practitioner Database;
  • Ability to write professionally using correct English grammar, spelling, and composition;
  • Strong verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with persons of various backgrounds and education levels;
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, multitasking and reorganizing priorities in a dynamic, continually changing work environment;
  • Strong work ethic and ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Ability to travel as necessary throughout Alaska, to both rural and urban locations, and outside Alaska to national meetings; and
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License.

Minimum Qualifications


Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska;
AND
A Master's degree from an accredited college in Nursing;
AND
Five years of professional Nurse experience that may include public health, health care, health care delivery systems or an administrative, consultative, or teaching capacity.

Special Note:
A person eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Alaska may apply for a position but may not be appointed until an Alaska license is obtained.

The position in this job class is in the partially exempt service in accordance with AS 39.25.120(c)(7)(D).
