Team Media Tool Trunk – WASTE OF MONEY
Update: Looks like the TEAM Media Tool Trunks have been reduced in price. The Media Warrior 2000 is now selling for $1,684.90 and the Media Warrior 1000 now goes for $859.70.
I came across this great comment from Candace on Lazy Man’s blog post about MonaVie.
She writes about two “incredible” tool trunks available from the TEAM web site, the TL147 – Tool Media Warrior Trunk 2000 and the TL146 – Tool Media Trunk 1000. The prices on these ultimate TEAM Tools are $2000 and $1000 respectively. Seeing that old Amway tools sell for pennies on the dollar on eBay, I was compelled to do a price comparison of these tool chests. The numbers in the spreadsheet below are calculated using the TEAM member prices, not the retail prices. Click the image below to see the spreadsheet full-size1:
Now, usually, if I were to buy a compilation of tools, I would expect the compilation to be cheaper not more expensive. Orrin Woodward and his TEAM Leaders have once again succeeded at showing greed has no limits. Buy the tools individually2 over the trunks, and you will SAVE $109.90 and $23.70 respectively!
But wait, don’t you get to keep the wonderful trunks so prominently displayed on the TEAM shopping site? No, read the fine print:
* Trunk not included
I bet Woodward is using the trunks to hold all the money he’s taking from distributors who don’t take the time to calculate the cost of purchasing the tools individually.
What do you get for purchasing this “powerful” tool set? Purchasers will “receive a free decal for their car and a matching tee shirt to be worn with pride.” Yup, buying this set means all of your fellow MonaVie Teammates will know you were the fool for buying an overpriced tool trunk.
Here are links to screenshots of the tools trunks from TEAM’s web site, as of May 24, 2009:
1 I could not find the price of the Success Magazine (Team Version) product, so estimated the cost as $2.25. Prices are effective according to TEAM’s web site as of May 23, 2009.
2 I omitted the fact that a large percentage of these tools are brochures or audio files, items that can be easily converted into lower-cost (or even freely) downloadable MP3s or PDFs.
Oh snaps! Brilliant! Maybe the extra cost is for the symbiosis of those 19 pamphlets, DVDs, and magazines acting in concert — just like the 19 toxic fruit syrups in Monavie.
…and they don’t even give you the trunk…that’s like being screwed without getting kissed!
It was aptly named “Tool Trunk” — only a “tool” would buy it.
It amazes me how anyone can buy into this insanity.
I think before I go on a major rant on the complete stupid behavior of many folks that will actually buy this.
Amthrax, you have made up stuff in a means to point out the folly of those involved in Amway and Monavie, so this trunk you speak of…is it a joke or is it real?
Mike – Click on the links in my post, and you can see the trunks for yourself for sale on the TEAM website. If they take the pages down, I have taken screenshots from the site this morning.
mike, believe it. Team customers get zero breaks when they buy materials in bulk. They actually pay more for bundles for the privilege of having the tools bundled. So you’re right, it is insanity and it’s why everyone (Randy Haugen) is storming the gates to get away from Team.
Hey Amthrax, Thanks for the shout-out.
Very good info you have put together here. While I am not surprised that the individual prices of the “tools” are much lower than the package price…I am still disgusted by it. Thank you for breaking this down for us.
Well it looks like you didn’t factor in the Top 5 books into your pricing. That would make your individual pricing low by about $60 or more. You should also note that the trunks do not just cost $2000 and $1000, those are simply the names. Team Customer Service said that the price of the trunks adjust according to the sum of its components when items and individual pricing changes.
Team Customer Support said that MonaVie lowered the price of their magazines in the last couple weeks and Team didn’t catch the price change right away. Team also lowered the price of their Top 50 recently and didn’t reduce the total of the trunk to reflect that change. Looks like an honest mistake by Team on that front. They appreciated my call.
Team Customer Support confirmed that this pricing issue was only about a week old. It hasn’t been that way for an extended period of time and they completed the corrections as we spoke.
You must be a member of Team if you have access to their member shopping cart. Did you call them and let them know they had a pricing issue? Seems like that would have been the proper way to handle this instead of going through the process of creating an entire webpost including links and screen shots for such a trivial thing.
I noticed that pricing info for the top 5 books was missing from your spreadsheet on the Media 2000 kit
I listed each book individually. I could not find the Top 5 book group price.
Dude, look at the screenshots that I took on the website. They prices were $2000 and $1000 respectively for the Media Warrior Trunk 2000 and Media 1000 Trunk. I see now that the prices have been lowered to the near cost of the individual items.
I am not a member of TEAM. Just go follow the links on this site to see the prices.
I’m not understanding how you were able to see the Team customer private login price if you don’t have a Team website subscription. That’s all.
And if I follow the links, it doesn’t show $2000 exactly. It’s a specific number like $2003.48 or something, which indicates the components are added up.
And in your spreadsheet, you listed the Top 5 books and their prices, but you didn’t include them in your total.
“Joe” may be Orrin Woodward. I posted a comment on his Twitter post telling him to Twitter this, and added a link to this post.
This makes at least a dozen dissenting posts I’ve put on the great leader Orrin’s blog that he will not post.
He’s not a leader.
But he’s something all right.
Ah, now I see what you’re saying. Yes, this actually makes the Media 1000 Trunk $50 cheaper than buying the items individually. No t-shirt nor decal, however. You’ll have to buy the Media Warrior 2000 Trunk for that… plus $50 more.
I want my goddamn trunk!!!
How can the brainwashed masses store their overpriced tools without their goddamn trunks? This is false advertising!!! Bring on the trunks!!! How can you call this a tool trunk without getting a trunk? Stop the insanity now!!!
Joe sounds like Orrin Woodward just by the way his writing is. I just want to say to Orrin “Joe” Woodward, UP YOURS! Hope to see you in Louisville(NOT)!!

I initially didn’t purchase that trunk because it was too expensive, but when d really stopped to analyse it, I realised that I could easily accumulate the materials during regular purchases in tree Tool Room and mail purchases from being on system. I’m glad I didn’t get the trunk, who needs duplicates of practically EVERYTHING you’ve got???
Bloody scammers.

Editors Note: This comment from I Quit (and glad I Did).
I wish I could say I never purchased it but that would be untrue. One might ask why I purchased it if thats how I feel. Youāre taught from the outset about the cashflow quadrant from the mind of Robert Kiyosaki. According to this financial guru it is preferable to live life on the right side of said quadrant. This is assuming you desire to have passive, residual income as opposed to trading time for money as it is on the left side. On the right side you have investing and what is termed āB type business.ā In other words, business that runs itself. How this ties into the Team system is simple. Build it and eventually you will have a B biz. This of course can only be done by using the training system. And how can you use the training system to help you build your biz if you donāt have any to give to people? Chris Brady always said and Iām paraphrasing but youāll get the jist of it, āDrop anyone anywhere with a top 50 pack and if they apply the knowledge contained therein, theyāll be able to build a huge, successful biz!ā
The tools are to be used as a third person weapon. The prospect wonāt believe you but Mr. or Mrs. successful on the cd will say the same schtuff you did and make you look like a genie-I-ass. Genius. Sorry. (damn software) So we ventured out into 95% ville to spread the saving gospel of Team. Losing our cdās, books, brochures and asses. Damn, I donāt have any more 1st nite packs I lost em all. MORE! I MUST HAVE MORE! People to save! Debt to pay off! Time to get back! I MUST BUY MORE!
And so it goes. Why a tool trunk? Cuz theres a tool for every situation! Third person everything! By buying lots of tools you have lots to give away. Then youāll be rich SOONER!
Dang. We didn’t get any really cool ‘trunks’ in wwdb. Shucks.
