Everton are back on the trail of Inter Milan midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.

The 23-year-old Switzerland international only joined from Bayern Munich in January but Inter are looking at ways to restructure their squad and want to assess what interest is in the market for some of their players.

Although Roberto Mancini stated last week that Shaqiri has a place in his plans, finances may dictate otherwise. Everton are exploring options and have sounded out his former clubs about his character.

Shaqiri joined Inter on an initial loan with view to a £12.8million fee following to Bayern. Stoke were also in the hunt.

Everton, meanwhile, are monitoring Brentford right-back Moses Odubajo.

Manager Roberto Martinez wants a new right-back even if Seamus Coleman and John Stones stay.

Leeds United's Sam Byram has again been discussed but Massimo Cellino's determination to get £8m for him makes that difficult. Sunderland have already had a £5m bid rejecetd.

Odubajo joined Brentford from Orient last summer in a £1million deal and is a prospect who keeps improving.

He had interest from Tottenham and West Ham before joining Brentford and can also play as a right-sided midfielder.

Belgian starlet David Henen will sign his three year contract with Everton on Wednesday before heading out on loan. The 19-year-old winger has interest from Championship and League One clubs.

Everton have yet to receive offers for Coleman or Stones but are aware that they are on the wishlists of Manchester United and Chelsea. Although the club says the duo are not for sale that may depend on the scale of offers proposed.

Brentford have agreed a £2.1m deal to sign FC Twente defender Andreas Bjelland, 26, which would break the club record.
