    MPC #67 - PLANTS - VOTING (5/31-6/2) - VOTE NOW

The voting will close at 11:59pm Mountain Time June 2nd. The winner should take it upon themselves to create a new MPC on Friday so we can take full advantage of the weekend.

This was a brutal one. I started with 10 pictures that I thought were deserving of being finalists. They were all pretty great takes on the theme. I ended up going through the list at least 5 more times thinning it down to the 5 below. The easy way out would have been 7 finalists but that's a pussy move.

What I relied on the most for picking the top 5 are the images that I wanted to just continue looking at after the first glance. They were images that drew me in.

    Here you go:

    Hot Diggity

    Dromond

    Todds

    Dromond and Kalisto,

Great shots. They really make me want to go to those places. I don't know if I'll ever get to Switzerland to see Kalisto's field, but maybe Dromond's is closer. Where was it taken?

Not too much closer as the crow flies. It's from North Bend, WA. The mossy fernage around these parts is unreal.

You are right about the distance, but I'm more likely to make it to your part of the world. My wife and I went to the Hoh rain forest about 10 years ago. Had a great time and want to go back.

The fern is called Common Polypody. Neat little species. Goes into a rolled up state when it gets dehydrated.
In order to properly convert this thread to a polyasshat thread to more fully enrage the liberal left frequenting here...... (insert latest democratic blunder of your choice).

    Interesting.

I'm going to say it: in my opinion Gholman got robbed on this MPC. Definitely my favorite although it didn't make the top five:

I thought that one was good aswell. The processing and wallpaper and other elements play nicely together.

I'll 3rd that was a great shot, and fake or not, I thought it fit the theme. I'll also add that IMHO, some of the best stuff didn't make the finals...
This is the worst pain EVER!

I'd agree; but hey, that's how the rules work I guess. Good MPC either way.

Uh Oh. Mutiny onboard the SS-MPC67.

For what it's worth, I also really liked gholman's shot and it was the last one that didn't make the top five. I just felt like the plant theme was an afterthought despite being a very well put together shot that had a consistent theme in composition and processing.

That's just my opinion though, what the hell do I know? I'm just an internet forum photographer

Yeah, but it was your MPC to run, so you have the final say.

I don't understand the selection, but nobody has to except Altmanator. Sure made picking one a lot easier than I expected.

Congratulations Dromond! In an MPC marred with controversy it came down to a single vote, with over 56 votes cast. There really were awesome entries all around and clearly many of them could have been in the top five. Let's get a new MPC up and running and move on!

Enjoy that happy feeling all day Dromond. Oh, what lens was that shot with? 50 1.4?

    Thanks for all the votes.

    Dromond,
Congratulations. I really like your picture. I almost voted for it myself.

    Altmanator,
Glad you picked a winner and let it move on. Most of these seem to have some controversy. You picked the pictures you thought fit your theme the best.

As was said in another controversial MPC, if anyone has a problem, they can always win the next MPC and do it the "right" way.

Good shots all around, in both the final list and the full submissions. While I also expected to see some of the other entries in the final, it's your MPC, so your way is the only "right" way.

Yahoo! It was the Canon 50 1.8. I'd like to get a 50 1.4 one of these days.

nice work dromond. I voted for todds shot but any of the top 5 (or top 10) woudlve been worthy

We've won it. It's going to get better now. You can sort of tell these things.
