mvc 2, aw HAILS yeah!

dreamcast...man those were some times. 53 hit hyper viper!

DevilVergilX5456d ago

wheres your curleh mustache at?
man cant wait to play my team clockwork again!

rockleex5456d ago

To have the PS2 button layout, I'm not used to the Dreamcast version.

Yi-Long5457d ago

... for a game you can just download and play with MAME.

If it were a HD-remix, it would still be quite pricey but it would be 'OK', but for pretty much a straight port of a 10 year old game, it seems a bit expensive.

Awesome awesome game though. Loved it on my Dreamcast.

Defectiv3_Detectiv35456d ago

This game is very rare, the dreamcast version is still worth face value

riksweeney5456d ago

MAME does not support Naomi hardware fully yet.

menoyou5456d ago

Yep, way overpriced. If it were an HD Remix then it would be worth the price. I'm not buying it. If they have a half-price sale, maybe I'll get it.

Bnet3435456d ago (Edited 5456d ago )

Considering this game is like $100 on eBay, no, no it's not overpriced.

@ El Colombiano

Alright, it's overpriced FOR YOU. Easy thing, don't buy it. That's what I do when I think a game is overpriced. If this didn't have online, I would of passed on it, but it does, so I'm sold. The "hard copy" thing doesn't phase me one bit because I would never give $100 for a used game that's about five years old and does not have online play.

El_Colombiano5456d ago

Considering those are hard copies, yes this is overpriced.

If the demo is anything to go by, then $15 is a bit too much. Make it $10 and I might consider it.

-MD-5457d ago (Edited 5456d ago )

Agreed 15 is too much I'll only pay 10.

Edit: They need to stop with these 15$ games 6-10$ should be the norm for arcade games with actual remakes/updated graphics costing 10-15$.

Seraphim5456d ago

I think $15 is too much. At least for me. Yes if you consider the fact this is a $60-100 PS2 game it's also well worth the price.

But at the same time, they did announce this on the Playstation Blog (comments sections I believe), after some thought though it makes sense that it's $15. The extra $5 is probably due to licensing fees for Marvel.

kingOVsticks5456d ago

but dammnit MVSC 2 is so much damn fun and it does come with super street fighter 2...

Giant_Chibi5456d ago

it doesn't come with super street fighter 2, you've misread that. It comes with super street fighter 2 hd remix's "quarter match mode." It's a mode from ssf2hdr, not the actual game itself.

20 Years Ago, Marvel vs Capcom 2 Delivered a Legendary Crossover

Everyone is trying the shared universe thing these days, but Marvel and Capcom were mashing up their most beloved characters decades ago. Perhaps their best crossover effort was Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, which was released on the PlayStation 2 & Xbox on Nov. 19, 2002, in North America. Previous releases took place in arcades and on Sega’s beloved but ill-fated Dreamcast console. Later releases came out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360’s digital storefronts.

Former employees of Backbone Entertainment have formed a new company called Digital Eclipse. On Twitter studio head Mike Mika confirmed they would love to help the fans. In addition to having ported MvC 2 before, the studio has worked with Disney on re-releases of the Disney Afternoon Collection, Aladdin and The Lion King. Legions of fans are waiting for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 to take them for one more ride.

Please work it out. I have fond memories of this fighter game. Not to mention the sequels just aren't as balanced as this game was.

Absonite962d ago

Balance? MvC2?! It was totally batshit unbalanced, but that's what made it fun.

sourOG962d ago

I laughed hard at balance lol. It is completely f***ing broken. Balance isn’t what people are looking for. Mk11 was the most balanced MK ever and the overall consensus was “restrictive and boring”.

PurpHerbison961d ago (Edited 961d ago )

For the noobs and average players it can be seen as balanced but at the highest competitive level it is absolutely broken. There was a ratio mod released recently that is actually pretty interesting and allows way more of the cast to see some play.

RedDevils961d ago

You can always balance my bank account.

Teflon02961d ago

No one cares about balance in MvC2. Games all about being unbalanced lol. If it was, it likely wouldn't be good

Lexreborn2961d ago

MvC2 is so unbalanced pros make special brackets to limit the amount of clone teams this game has at high levels. Even now Justin Wong and others have only been playing with the character cost format to make it interesting.

CrimsonWing69961d ago (Edited 961d ago )

Did you ever play as Cable or play someone else who was using Cable? This is an incredibly unbalanced game and honestly some of the most fun is making a redonkulous team and just clapping cheeks.

KwietStorm_BLM961d ago

Balanced... Storm, Sentinel and Magneto breathe a sigh of relief.

Yi-Long962d ago

I really enjoyed the game on Dreamcast.

A lot less when it was later re-released on newer systems, because I believe all characters were already unlocked instead of you playing to unlock them. The SP experience on those re-releases was just ‘less’ than the Dreamcast version, which was a bit disappointing.

Would love a proper HD remake/remaster, if given the care & love it deserves (instead of a quick cash-grab with a mediocre port).

Would also love to see Capcom release a FullHD port/renaster/remake of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max (psp).

Teflon02961d ago

Seeing the Alpha games storyline is being promoted in SFV, with all the mainline titles, it really should get one

WiiU-Dude962d ago

I'm very interested in this.

Vandamme21961d ago

Why not just make a new game

CrimsonWing69961d ago

Well, they uh… tried that already and…

BlaqMagiq1961d ago

They did. And it was extremely mediocre.

PurpHerbison960d ago

Not sure what you mean though. Marvel 3 was pretty damn good and Marvel Infinite was too. Infinite just suffered from poor graphics but the gameplay and netcode was actually pretty solid.

FallenAngel1984961d ago

I want them to rerelease the entire Marvel vs Capcom series on modern platforms, from X:Men Children of the Atom to Marvel vs Capcom 2

I’d also love for the next Marvel vs Capcom title to live up to its series legacy rather than being a disappointment like Infinite

CosmicTurtle961d ago

I said the same thing without seeing your comment. X-Men vs Street Fighter and MSH were stunning games. They look great to this day.

I did not mind MvC3 and ultimate but the last entry was dire.

Godmars290961d ago

And I want them to go back to 2D - know THAT'S not happening!

Nice compromise would be something stylized towards what Guilty Gear does than their own attempts at 3D.
