Regent Park Film Festival - Call for Education Committee Applicants
The Regent Park Film Festival is Toronto's ONLY free-of-charge film festival dedicated to showcasing the finest local and international independent works relevant to the inner-city community of Regent Park -- the largest and oldest low-income housing development in Canada.

Each year the Festival presents exciting and engaging school based programming for grades 1-8 in Regent Park and surrounding communities.  Two years ago, upon the recommendations of teachers who have attended the Festival, we put together our first Education Committee to develop curriculum based lesson plans around our school programming.  These lesson plans were an incredible success and in an effort to continue providing great learning tools for classes and students, we are looking to put together the 2014 Education Committee over the next few weeks.

If you are a teacher interested in volunteering to support the development of lesson plans connected to selected films for the Festival this coming November, please complete the application form below.

Deadline to apply is: JUNE 6, 2014 at 11:59 PM.

Education Committee: What does it do?
The Education Committee works to create lesson plans around films that are carefully selected by our School Programming Selection Committee.  The lesson plans are geared towards students in grades 1 - 8, and help facilitate their understanding and engagement with the films they see at the Festival. Volunteers on the committee develop and write lesson plans in accordance with the standards of the provincial curriculum.
Time commitment
• Education Committee interviews will take place via phone the week of June 9 – 13.
• Estimated volunteer time is around 15-20 hours total.
• Lesson development, planning, and the writing process will take place over 4 - 6 meetings during the months of July and August 2014.

Who can apply?
We welcome applications from teachers, teacher candidates, as well as people interested in gaining experience in the areas of education and film.
