My hat is off to Gloria Brown (Open forum, March 2) and Judy Lubow (Guest opinion, March 5) for their keen insights on the Plenary Roads deal with the Colorado Department of Transportation and FasTracks.

I found it curious that the day before the deal with Plenary was signed the latest study on Northwest Corridor rail service was released. If I were Plenary Roads I would not have signed a 50-year deal with CDOT if I had not read or knew of the Northwest Corridor rail study conclusions in advance.

For Plenary and those who control E-470 it must be comforting to know there will be no competing public road or rail services. From a strategic standpoint the north counties are now essentially “hog tied” when it comes to public and private transportation.

If I were in charge of signing the CDOT deal for Plenary Roads I would have done so in a heartbeat. Checkmate.
