FORBIDDEN: FRESHMAN YEAR (An Erotic Suspense Novella)
By Shelly Bell

Rules are meant to be broken…
For one night, Tristan Kelley taught the woman he only knew as Angel to surrender to all her wicked desires. Now his Angel has a name—Isabella Lawson—and he’s not only her professor but her boss. Kisses are forbidden. Touches are forbidden. And f#*king her until neither one of them can walk is most definitely forbidden. Of course, he’s never been one to play by the rules.

But the consequences can be deadly…
When Isabella convinced her cousin to take her to her first BDSM party, she hadn’t intended on meeting someone like Tristan—and she certainly hadn’t intended on ever seeing him again. Now she not only sees him in class three days a week, she shares a cramped office with him every afternoon…and it’s becoming harder and harder to resist the temptation. But Tristan Kelley is the least of her problems. Because her dark past is coming for her. And this time...

She might not survive.

TIN MAN’S DANCE (A New Adult Novella)
By MK Schiller

The one time Lilly Franklin decides to reward herself with tickets to her favorite indie artist’s concert, there is a seat mix-up. Not to mention the tall, cocky boy who claims her front-row seat is all wicked smiles, long legs and tug-worthy hair. Lilly quickly decides this boy is messing with the wrong girl. But as the night wears on, Lily starts to see a softer side of former marine, James “Hutch” Hutchinson. A side that makes her shed her loner inhibitions along with her clothes.

There is a difference between trouble and troubled, but Hutch is both.

Hutch lost more than a leg in the Iraqi dessert. Returning to school on the GI Bill wasn’t exactly in the plans…but plans change. Now he only wants to meet the dancer he saw at the recitals his roommate dragged him to, but he’s forgotten how to talk to women, especially a woman as graceful as Lilly. So armed with a plan that even a twelve-years-old would laugh at, James steals Lilly’s seat.

Only fair since she stole his heart first.

But Lilly has plans, too. As if Hutch’s life wasn’t already a sh*t storm of sacrifice. Now, he has to give up the one thing he can’t get enough of.

DARK HEARTS (A Paranormal New Adult Novella)
By Aliza Mann

Mitchell Rowland wasn’t looking for trouble. Having sworn off crazy girls, he needed to keep a low profile. It wasn’t a good idea to be in the spotlight with vicious Seekers and heartless demons out to kill him. The fantasy of blending in disappeared when he met half-human, half-demon, Aurora Tanner. Gone were the cares of hiding the wolf he was, replaced with an urgency to claim her. Could he help the woman of his dreams avert certain death at the hands of her demon father while maintaining his own secret?

Aurora was simply trying to live a normal life. One where she hung out with her friends, enjoyed campus life and wasn’t being stalked by her deathly father – the demon Alchoe, who vowed to kill her if she didn’t return to Hell with him. In fact, when Mitch approached her at a frat party, she knew she should walk away because there was nothing normal about him – but she didn’t. Instead, she ignored her apprehension. One night of passion left her spiritually bound to him. Fresh with imprint from the werewolf she barely knew, she would have to find a way to save her life, while protecting her heart.

HIIGH STAKES (A New Adult Novella)
By Sage Spelling

Betting on Seduction . . .

College jock Blake Holland never backs down from a challenge, so when his douchebag teammate bets him that he can’t seduce the aloof Catalina Vega by Devil’s Night, his pride gets the better of him—and he finds himself accepting. He thought it would be easy, but the more he gets to know her, the more he falls for the sexy librarian. Easy? Famous last words...

With an illness she hides from everyone, virgin Catalina Vega doesn’t date. Like ever. It’s safer to hide behind her books. But when it comes to Blake, she’s throwing caution to wind. Seriously, how could she hate him and want to kiss him at the same time?

As the chemistry between them becomes too hard to resist, they give into temptation, ignoring the secrets hanging over their heads.
But secrets have a way of coming out…

This is the first time for me to read an anthology. I usually stir clear from them because they always leave me hanging. But I was told that this is not the usual anthology where the authors only share the same “theme.” In this Anthology, stories are somehow intertwined, as characters are inter-related some by blood but mostly by friendship.

What I love the most about this anthology is that by the end of it. It all came to a full circle. This book has a mix of a hot professor who dabbles with BDSM, hot Marine man who steals not just your seat but your heart as well, a werewolf who wanted to keep a low profile but just can’t seem to forget about this certain half demon. A Richie rich - captain of the basketball team who everybody thinks has it easy in life, places a bet where he didn’t expect to lose or maybe losing is actually winning. And lastly, witches and witch hunters! Where soul mates are destined to be with each other regardless of kind. And Oh! Let’s not forget the bridge. Pont d’Amour, the bridge that brings all of them together. Who knew contemporary and paranormal reads meshes well. Since I don’t read much paranormal, I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it. In a way, it was a breath of fresh air.

Five different couples with 5 different scenarios. It was really good because this anthology gave me the things I want in a book. Hot steamy scenes, LOL moments, tears in my eyes, the suspense and thrill of the chase, both kind of chase for love and for the fear of life chase. Did I wish that their stories be longer? Definitely! But the authors did a wonderful job of bringing them together. Getting straight to what really matters. Now my question now is, Will the authors do a full-length novel to their books, if yes then I am SO LOOKING FORWARD to reading them, and second question which may be the most important one. Does this particular bridge really exist? And how do I get there?

Four stars for the brand new novella by MK Schiller, which is why I read the anthology in the first place. It was a sweet story about a damaged ex-soldier and a dancer who have only a month to be together.

I tried to read the only other contemporary in the volume by Sage Spelling but couldnt get into it.

FORBIDDEN: FRESHMAN YEAR (An Erotic Suspense Novella)
By Shelly Bell

It's always nice to know the times your man goes commando:
" You don’t wear underwear,” she remarked, her voice raspy.
He rolled the latex down his length, climbed back onto the mattress and lifted her legs, holding her by the ankles. “Not when I’m in the mood to play."
When discussing birth control he gives solid answers, "I’d like the freedom to eff you whenever,” he said, pausing to lick her arousal from his hand, “wherever, and however I like on the weekends." I really liked this story.

TIN MAN’S DANCE (A New Adult Novella)
By MK Schiller

This one was my favorite out of the anthology, Hutch can be a laid back guy at times, "he leaned back against the seat, crossing his arms behind his head. “Go for it. As far as I’m concerned this is a really nice view.” It took a second to sink in that he was talking about my a**." He knows his boundaries, "I don’t want to get arrested for public indecency . I’m a weak man in your presence, Lilly Franklin." Sometimes Lilly doesn't know what his reactions will be and it's fun watching them, "Lilly, you can’t jump across a man’s lap like that.” Her bare a** was in my sights. I caressed it."

DARK HEARTS (A Paranormal New Adult Novella)
By Aliza Mann

This was an alright story Mitch I liked him well enough you can tell by some of his reactions he's a cuddler, "Aurora began to pull away, but Mitch held tight. “One more second, baby. You feel so good." This was an enjoyable story.

HIIGH STAKES (A New Adult Novella)
By Sage Spelling

Blake's woman sometimes comes up with the stupidest questions well they're stupid in Blake's mind, "so you don’t want to have sex with me?” Her expression sullied. She was disappointed that I wasn’t taking her upstairs to eff." This one was a cute story I liked it.

This book has something for EVERYONE! Contemporary romance, BDSM, to the paranormal. I enjoyed the subtle way each book intersects. The editing needs some touching up, the grammar isn't always perfect, but the stories themselves are solid and engaging. This book is excellent for the on the go reader. Read one short story, then go on with your day to pick it back up during your next break. It comes at an wonderful price that anyone can afford.

ARC kindly provided by MK Schiller in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first time to read an anthology. I knew anthologies have several authors and thus different stories. But this anthology is different because even there are 5 authors, the stories are somehow related to each other and it only has one setting which is the Hayvenwood University. This was perfectly written and very well planned. The stories are all perfect for us hopeless romantics. There are different couples for each book and they all have their own happily ever after. But all the characters somehow appear in all the 5 books. I find this so unique for an anthology. You won’t miss them much coz you get to see them again in the succeeding books. We have five authors writing their own books without overshadowing each other.

I love all five books. I love how the couples met, how they fell in love, how they struggled with their lies and secrets, how they almost broke up, how they connected and most especially, how they reached their happily ever after. I have always loved reading college settings and this was it for me. Among the five authors, I only know Mk Schiller and I love all her books. They were all hard to put down books for me. Shelly, Aliza, Sage and Heather will now be added to my list of favorite authors.

Forbidden: Freshman Year

I love this BDSM story. For me it was just mild and I liked it that way. It gave both Tristan and Isabella the pleasure they wanted and at the same time it was not excessive. BDSM has always been a sensitive topic for me coz I don’t understand how you derive pleasure from inflicting pain to somebody you love. But with this story, I loved how Shelly wrote it that Isabella was not in pain or it was all consensual. I love how they met and the instant attraction. They were really destined to meet coz what could only have been a one night thing, fate brought them together again. Both had issues with their pasts but they were able to resolve them that lead them to their happily ever after.

Tin Man’s Dance

This story really captivated my heart and touched me to the core. I cried my hearts out towards the end. I love how they met and fell in love with each other. The way James introduced himself to Lilly was so unique and so original. I guess when you really are determined to get to know a girl you are attracted to, you will do anything.

This is not only a love story but also a story of dreams, sacrifice and finding meaning in life despite the disability. The road to James and Lilly’s happily ever after was a little rough. But they got there because of their unconditional love for each other. Love is about making choices and never regretting making it. It’s about fulfilling your dreams with somebody you love. I really loved the ending. Though I would have wanted to read more on their love story.

Dark Hearts

I must admit I’m not really a fan of paranormal. But this particular love story captured my interest and made me fall in love with it. I read about imprinting in The Twilight Saga. But it was in this story that I understood the depth and intensity for those involved. It’s sort of magical. You don’t know when or whom you’re going to imprint. Mitch and Aurora are from 2 different worlds. But when fate and destiny stepped in, their differences were never a hindrance. I love how they achieved their happily ever after. This really proves that you would do anything to protect somebody you love and would do anything to be together in the end.

High Stakes

This book got me intrigued because I have always loved reading stories where there's a bet involved. It usually makes me want to go straight to the ending and find out how the girl discovers about the bet and how she would react. But with Blake and Cat's love story, I was glued from the start to the end. I love how circumstances brought them together and how their love blossomed. It took just one almost fatal indecent that made Blake realize he has definitely fallen for Cat. It was so easy to fall in love with this story. And the ending was perfect. I couldn't ask for a better one.

Hunting Witch Hazel

Another paranormal love story that I fell in love with just like Dark Hearts. I fell in love with Grayson instantly because of his kind heart and his great love not only for Hazel but also for his brother. Despite his being a witch hunter, he still fought to be good and even fell in love with a witch. Love really knows no boundaries. I love the ending and how the events turned out. You can also experience here true brotherly and sisterly love. The epilogue was so amazing and so grand. I didn’t expect it to end that way. But it was the perfect ending that I wished for.

This is a must read for all. I had a hard time putting this down. I give this a 5 Star rating.

Forbidden: Freshman Year was amazing. I am eager to dive into this new series by Shelly Bell. In her Shelly Bell style she pens an incredibly HOT HOT HOT story of love in a different arena. Her insight of the BDSM community is the best I have read. I giggle whenever I tell someone that Shelly Bell writes Informatively HOT BDSM. She doesn't leave out the questions a reader might have behind the actions. The emotions are raw and real. The characters are people you know.

Tristan is fighting with his personal demons when he meets "Angel" - she flips his world upside down, but it was ONE night. Until fate places him as Professor Kelley in one of her college courses. "Angel," known to everyone else as Isabella - needs to feel free and safe, and that is what Tristan offered her during their one night. The complications their new relationship brings offers an unsettling fear.

Tristan isn't her only concern. She thought this school would be her safe haven, but when her past finds her - she finds that Tristan might be her safe haven.

***Can't wait to read the others when I have time - but Shelly ROCKED this novella!

Shelley Bell's Forbidden: Freshman Year is 5 scorching hot stars!
After a very abusive relationship that ended with her ex in a mental hospital, Isabella had found out a lot about herself. She had gotten counseling from a few different sources. One of these sources was her cousin Deanna. Deanna was taking Isabella to her 1st pleasure party. Little did Isabella know that her night of being known as "Angel" turns into something longer lasting then her 1 night fling in the erotic scene.
Tristan Kelley is a man with Dominant taste. He arrives at his business partner's house for a night of pleasure, but he's not feeling it. Just as he is about to leave he meets Angel. One night of pleasure is all Angel is willing to give Tristan as she is leaving to go to college in the UP of Michigan.
Little do either of them realize that Fate has something more wicked in store for them!!!!
I LOVED THIS NOVELLA! It has passion, mystery, kink, and a surprise ending!

This was my first read by Shelly Bell and let me just say that her work left one heck of a first impression! I was instantly addicted to the story and ended up reading it all in one sitting. IT IS HOT!!!

The story line is VERY engaging and will keep you squirming in your seat! The characters have undeniable chemistry, and their sexual encounters will leave blushing... and maybe a little envious!

I highly recommend Forbidden: Freshman Year it WILL DEFINITELY satisfy all your reading needs!

Excellent anthology. I loved how the stories all intertwined with each other. Each author is exceptional in their own right and when they came together to make this it was genius! I also loved how the different genres worked with each other, from BDSM to paranormal. I highly recommend this to anybody. The characters all stand out and you cannot help but love each of them. I loved how a character from one story shows up in another as an extra character in a scene. I now have several new authors I will be reading.

By far, Falling Hard is one of my favs. I love the paramormal romance, the BDSM, the girl hard on her luck and the adult romance that these autos have provided. I especially like how they are all connected, which is the best way to write. You just can't stop at reading one and not the others.

HUNTING WITCH HAZEL: BOOK ONE IN THE LYNCH BROTHERS SERIES

Including Grayson.

Before even the first story we read the Foreword. Twin witch sisters, Rosemary and Hazel Evanora, putting a spell on a bridge.
“When souls look upon the bridge and make a wish, they will find their path to love.”
FORBIDDEN: FRESHMAN YEAR (An Erotic Suspense Novella)
I found myself thinking of Fifty Shades Of Grey whilst reading this one. Tristan is very authoritive. Proper dom material. Isabella wants to get her life back on track. Two people hurt by people from their pasts, not wanting the uncertainty of a relationship, maybe their mutual interests could aid them in healing together. This novella is of the erotic suspense genre. It’s written from the male and female point of view. The story was descriptive and steamy in places, although I did find the odd scene a little rushed.
TIN MAN’S DANCE (A New Adult Novella)
Here we had a contemporary romance, also from the male and female perspective. This story was adorable. I thought the romance between Lilly and Hutch was so cute. Hutch tries to be the manly marine, keeping his life on track after losing his leg, but really he’s a big sweetie. He really made me smile. Straight away he was attracted to Lilly and felt a little protective of her.
“You drop her, Aladin pants, and I’ll kick your ass.”
This had me giggling. A novella of Lilly and Hutch wasn’t enough for me!
DARK HEARTS (A Paranormal New Adult Novella)
I was a bit mixed emotions about this paranormal novella. I liked the intensity of Mitch and Aurora’s feelings for each other. Hearing from both points of view, helped to understand Aurora’s reasons for holding back at first. Like Aurora did in the story, I loved Mitch’s potty mouth and how he just says what he’s thinking. The erotic scenes were hot and i did have a little giggle when Mitch and Hazel were talking spells.
“I hope it’s not like the last one, I had hair on my neck for two weeks.”
” It’s called a beard Mitch.”
“Only if it’s on the front of your neck. On the back, it’s a sure-fire sex repellant.”
What made me feel mixed about this story, was that even though the paranormal aspect was mentioed throughout, the paranormal action aspect was a bit lacking until towards the end, where it amped up and it was great!
HIIGH STAKES (A New Adult Novella)
Hiigh stakes was by far my favourite book out of the five. This is my favourite genre to read, New Adult. Blake the rich, play boy jock finally falling for a girl. Not a cheerleader or the most popular girl in school, a quiet girl who works in a library. Their was a connection between Blake and Cat, that was evident from the begining.
Cat bought out Blake’s tender side. How much he seemed to care for Cat and then was there for her when he found out about the illness she was keeping secret, it gave me butterflies and big time made me smile. Almost fell for Blake Holland myself :-)
The pace of this story was great, even though it is only a novella, it was jam packed but it wan’t too much and it wasnt rushed. It was just too damn short. I want more of Blake and Cat!!
HUNTING WITCH HAZEL: BOOK ONE IN THE LYNCH BROTHERS SERIES
(A Paranormal New Adult Novella)
So anyone who follows the blog knows books of the paranormal genre aren’t my top read but occasionally I get lucky and really enjoy one. This was one, unfortunately it was only in the form of a novella. Luckily this is just the start of a series so I can read more :-)
It was quite an intense storyline, Grayson was extremely attracted to Hazel from the beginning but he was there for a reason. His head wanted to help his brother but his heart wanted Hazel.
I thought the author, Heather Novak, had a beautiful writing style……….
What had started as a frenzied first hookup, turned into the sensual passion when two souls find a home in one another, the movements of long-time lovers whose biggest desire was to bring pleasure to the other. Toes curled, lungs gasped, and fireworks exploded. Sweat-slicked bodies collapsed, our hearts entwined by more than ever imaginable.
I will definitely be following this series!
Overall thoughts on the box set………..
I loved that although these five novellas were written by separate authors, they were all linked together by the characters and the setting in which they were written, and the characters feature as secondary characters in each book. Shelly Bell, M.K.Schiller, Aliza Mann, Sage Selling and Heather Novak all worked really well together on this box set and their writing styles and storylines compliment each other greatly!
We have hot sex scenes, Even hotter men, Heroes and adorable relationships. What more do you need!! This box set has a variety of everything that makes it a fun read that has you hooked. Furthermore…….everything links back to the foreword, right at the very beginning, and then at the end, I LOVED that all the characters came together for Halloween on the bridge where it all began! A brilliant finish to the set!
It was great that the books were of different genres to, it kept the box set interesting and made you intrigued to get to the next book to see what happens next. A great read that has brought five new authors to my attention!!

I thought I was going to like FALLING HARD: A NEW ADULT ANTHOLOGY a lot more than I actually did. Anthologies are fun. New Adult is fun. So, paranormal, contemporary and romantic suspense romances in one New Adult anthology should be fun through the roof, right?

The legend of Hayvenwood University's ancient stone bridge, Pont d'Amour, binds the stories together: When lost souls look upon the bridge and make a wish, they will find their true path to love.

Unfortunately, the first book, Forbidden: Freshman Year by Shelly Bell, was anything but romantic. It was billed as a romantic suspense drama but it was more erotica except that Tristan was no magical Dom. After escaping her abusive, crazy ex, Isabella flees to Hayvenwood to start her studies and a new life. Her one-night stand from a BDSM party turns out to be her professor AND employer. Tristan has forsworn commitment but can't stay away from Isabella. Tristan chases after Isabella, of course, but then completely drops the ball when he misreads the situation with Isabella's crazy ex and believes the worst. By the time he made a casual reference to his ex-wife and brushes over Isabella's shocked "You were married?", Tristan had worn out his welcome for me. 2 stars.

I read this mostly for the second book. Tin Man's Dance by M.K. Schiller. This was a sweet typical NA romance with innocent dancer Lily, and Hutch, a 24-year-old war vet amputee returning to college. I'm a fan of M.K. Schiller and this was lyrically sweet, romantic fare but not one of her best. I know this is an ARC subject to further editing (I hope) but I lost it when I read Hutch explaining how he lost his leg in the war:
My convoy hit an IUD when we were transporting a prisoner
Now I can't get the image of exploding birth control out of my head. 3 stars

I almost DNF'd by the third book, Dark Hearts by Aliza Mann. There was a lot of random world building but nothing cohesive or compelling enough for really take root. Aurora, a half-demon, is hiding from her demon father behind the enchanted bridge guarding Hayvenwood. Mitch, Hutch's roommate and a werewolf struggling with his shifting, shouldn't be anywhere near Aurora. Simple enough except their hormones totally get in the way and they imprint each other. Problem is that it is purely physical:
Aurora made Mitch revert into a caveman, his inner beat aching to claim her.
Mitch is definitely in heat for Aurora. Her butt is "magical" and her body is "banging". But nothing else exists to suggest that Aurora and Mitch should be together other than their physical attraction to each other. And when Mitch starts to shift during sex with Aurora, it is alarming and most definitely not sexy. 2 stars

Fourth up was High Stakes by Sage Spelling. Players falling for librarian types are my literary catnip so I enjoyed this one a bit more than Dark Hearts. Cat, a student and librarian at Hayvenwood (and roommate to Isabella from Forbidden: Freshman Year) desperately wants to hide her epileptic condition and live a normal life. Blake, basketball team captain whose wealthy family founded the school, wants to win a bet by bedding her within two weeks. Cat and Blake need to be thrown together and they are, clumsily. Blake's father complains to the dean about Blake's B grades so the dean assigns Cat out of the blue to tutor him.

Cat decides she hates Blake, and her indifference intrigues him. Cat won't get involved with another guy after a humiliating experience when her high school boyfriend discovered she was epileptic. So of course they follow the NA formula: campus manwhore falls for shy girl who drinks too much and then drunkenly messes around with manwhore. Manwhore in love but shy girl refuses to see it. Shy girl discovers manwhore made a bet about her and manwhore has to convince her it wasn't the bet that made him bed her, it was lurve.

Maybe it was the formulaic tone to this NA that bugged me but it probably was the lackadaisical treatment of epilepsy. Cat has had epilepsy for years and supposedly works so hard to keep it under control. Yet she drinks too much and eats way too much junk food, which are two well known epilepsy triggers. Wouldn't someone with a lifelong condition know better? 3 stars.

And finally, Hunting Witch Hazel: Book One in the Lynch Brother Series by Heather Novak. Hazel was the witch who first enchanted the bridge, at the behest of the ghost of her dead twin sister. Hazel is also another NA heroine hiding from the crimes of her family. Unfortunately for her, Grayson Lynch, one of a trio of famed witch-hunting brothers, needs her powers to save his brother's life. Too bad for his little bro, Grayson and Hazel are so hot for each other that when they finally give in and sleep together, voila, it turns out they are soul mates. The test of a soul mate: witches float after sex with a soul mate. Insert head-scratching emoji here, please.

Unfortunately there just wasn't enough about the brothers or romance to keep me invested for the rest of the brothers' stories, despite the ample sprinkling of sequel bait. 2 stars.

Falling Hard is an anthology by authors Shelly Bell, MK Schiller, Aliza Mann, Sage Spelling and Heather Novak. The common thread in each novellas is the legend of Hayvenwood University’s bridge, Pont d’Amour: when lost souls look upon the bridge and make a wish, they will find their true path to love. The stories in the anthology are also connected through a cast of overlapping characters. Each story has a vaguely new adult vibe and is set on the college campus, although happily they are all quite different and each author has a distinctive voice.
The anthology kicks off with Shelly Bell’s Forbidden: Freshman Year where heroine Isabella shows up to a sex party wearing black leggings and a pink bakery logo T-shirt. That is totally something I would wear to a sex party too. Anyway, Isabella catches the attention of commitment-phobic dominant Tristan and they share a one night only bdsm f**kfest. Only problem is that it turns out that Tristan is actually Isabella’s new professor and boss. Yeah, things are totally going to get awkward. Tristan is soon lusting after Shelly big time. She’s really focused on selling cake pops to her fellow students. Don’t worry that’s not a new drug euphemism. Isabella is just really into baking. Given their new proximity, it’s not long before Tristan and Isabella can’t fight their attraction any longer, only Isabella has some issues from a previous relationship that threaten her new happiness with Tristan.
MK Schiller’s Tin Man’s Dance is about 24-year-old former marine Hutch who is an amputee starting college. Hutch feeling numb and lost, has reconciled himself to a future of lonely nights. However, his roommates take him to a dance recital, where he sees dancer Lily perform. Both Hutch and Lily are incredibly lonely souls. Hutch hasn’t been with anyone since he lost his leg and Lily has been in a single-minded pursuit of her dancing dream leaving no room for anything else in her life. Hutch is an intriguing, heartbreaking blend of strength and vulnerability and it was interesting to see Lily learn all the facets of his personality and what he has been through. This story is catnip for hopeless romantics and anyone who digs the wounded warrior vibe.
Dark Hearts by Aliza Mann tells the story of Aurora, a half-demon hiding from her father behind the enchanted Pont d’Amour bridge. Werewolf Mitch is having a lot of women problems, he’s a werewolf playa (“with the swagger of a hip-hop star”) and he seems to attract stalker-like attention from the women he bangs. On a crazy night on campus where the entire student population is smoking it up, Mitch finds Aurora and while her seriously crazy eyes should totally scare him off, or maybe the fact that she’s a demon theology major, he’s really into her. Like the horny college kids they are, they immediately succumb to their primal lust. The only problem is that this causes some wolfie-imprinting thing and now they’re bound together – and Aurora is still in danger. Fear not, Wolf Boy is going to do everything he can to protect Aurora in this sexy, dark story.
In High Stakes by Sage Spelling, virgin-librarian Cat is keen to hide her epilepsy and live a normal life, but basketball captain Blake is intent on sleeping with her in order to win a bet. However, Cat promptly tells him, “I’m not having sex with your sweet-talking, panty dropping sexy ass.” Well, we don’t want the sexy librarian to go too easy on the campus bad boy. Blake’s nasty Dad decides that Blake needs a tutor and straight A’s and Cat is given the job forcing her to spend time with him. Expect a lot of sexy banter as these two really get to know each other.
Hunting Witch Hazel by Heather Novak ties the whole anthology together, with the main character Hazel being the witch who enchanted the Pont d’Amour bridge at the behest of her ghostly twin sister. Hazel is powerful, smart, loyal and protective of her friends who rely on her healing potions. The hero Grayson is a witch hunter who is ridiculously good looking and a bit of a jerk: “Here’s the thing about being as goddamn good-looking as me – everyone expected me to be a giant prick. And I really hated disappointing people.” The story gets interesting when these two fall for each other with explosive chemistry. The tension in the story lies in the fact that Grayson is unfortunately (as a witch hunter and all) obliged to destroy Hazel in this quirky paranormal.
When it comes to reading, some of us have multiple personalities and there is literally something here for every mood. This anthology is a very cost-effective solution for your vacation beach reading needs - there is great value in a collection of novellas that can offer so much. Bubbling away in this anthology cauldron is a bit of sincere and sweet, some paranormal and suspense, and a dash of kink and erotica. If you’re wanting a bit of everything from an anthology, then the men of Hayvenwood College are sure to please.

** ARC kindly provided by Heather Novak for an honest review. **
Oh la la, well done ladies! Great idea about the thread running through the stories! Loved it!
Full review to come on release day!

******************************************************************

All these stories are from various kinds, from Erotica-BDSM to New Adult, Paranormal Romance, and are somehow intertwined; the characters are related, mostly by friendship but also by place.
FORBIDDEN : FRESHMAN Year by Shelly Bell

For a start in an anthology, this one was a hell of a beginning, introducing us Isabella and Tristan. This was my first book from this author and she definitely made a good first impression through her erotica-sensual BDSM forbidden romance.
This was a good read with a smoking hot and erotic vibes, with characters with a good and sensual chemistry. But I think it was a little rush to me and by the end, I just wanted me to know more about Tristan. Hurry Shelley Bell, I want to know what happens next!

TIN MAN'S DANCE by MK Schiller

Change of scene, a completely different mood.
This time, we have Lilly and James' "Hutch" story.
This story was so sweet and endearing, through Lilly's dreams and Hutch traumatized past from war, how his future was now changing. Their relationship put things into perspective, but can they have a future together?
A promising dancer and a former GI (totally clueless when it comes to women), a lot of sweet, romantic moments, struggling with both their issues and aspirations.

DARK HEARTS by Aliza Mann

Now, we're in Paranormal Romance, so a huge turning point. Magic, witches, werewolves, demons, hunters, are now the main topic.
Aurora and Mitch's story (Hutch roommate). A half demon with father's big issues and a werewolf, trying to control his shifting.
Mitch total Alpha, Aurora Bad ass heroine. It was mostly about physical attraction and impregnation. Enjoyable read.

HIGH STAKES by Sage Spelling

A Bad boy/rich womanizer, a librarian and a bet!
Blake is also Hutch and Mitch roommate. Cat is Isabella's roommate, hiding her physical condition : she's epileptic.
Blake tried to win a bet and Cat tried to be indifferent to his charms. He had to step up his grades, to his father's opinion.
She was stubborn and he was intrigued. She had some irrational behavior concerning her condition and Blake was a little too oblivious about that.
Their banter was great and I enjoy reading this story about a man whore falling in love.

HUNTING WITCH HAZEL by Heather Novak

A story about an other roommate, Grayson (a witch hunter) and Hazel (a witch). As you might guess, their story wasn't an easy one. He had to save his brother, she had to stay away from trouble.
His plan to steal the witch’s power to release his brother wasn’t going as expected, he tried everything he could, but Hazel stayed away and avoiding him.
From the moment he met her, he was immediately attracted to this woman, the only one he couldn’t have.
Sexual attraction, intense chemistry , some action, a sexy witch hunter, and strong heroine, who can ride a motorcycle? I say YES!
He had to choose : his brother or the love of his life? Tic, Tac, time is running!

I had a great time to read this anthology and I absolutely loved how the stories were related, and how each ones were different from the others.
Writing all of them this way was very original and very interesting. If you’re looking for romance with some twists, with characters who were struggling with their lives, secrets, especially about their real nature, and how they fell in love, this anthology is for you!
These ladies caught my attention, so great job!

Five red-hot stories, all deliciously intertwined!
#romance #paranormal #erotic

5 Stars!
Series: None, Anthology
Characters: Multiple
Setting: Michigan
Mature Themes: Sex, alcohol, addiction, BDSM, blood, violence, death, etc.

Recommendation:
I cannot recommend this anthology enough, really. Each story was crafted to weave into one another, while at the same time giving the reader a fresh perspective and diverse characters. Multiple themes between the stories makes it easy for the reader to pick favorite while still enjoying the rest, and the pacing of each is great for a quick read or a binge session. While I certainly enjoyed a few more than the rest, four out of the five I would read an entire novel of.

Forbidden: Freshman Year
Shelly Bell
Freshman year is one of the three non-paranormal stories. Isabella and Tristen meet at a BDSM party and after being clear with one another that it’s a one night only arrangement, they part ways. Both are shocked to see each other at college where Tristan is now Isabella’s Professor… and boss.

Both characters were written exceptionally well, and in the amount of time the short story provided the reader was able to learn about their rich backgrounds and character flaws. The story was vivid with a life to it that made it believable, enjoyable, and a wonderful erotic. The main flaw to it would have to be the cliche storyline, that while written well, is starting to feel tired.

Tin Man’s Dance
MK Schiller
Lilly is a college dancer with big dreams and little to no social life, but when Hutch cons his way into her seat at a concert she’s attending, her social life changes. Lilly’s dreams are big though, and when they come true, she’s forced to make a very difficult decision that both of them will have to live with.

This was one of my favorites, it was sweet and paranormal free, a well rounded love story with the ability to heal the reader’s soul as Lilly healed Hutch’s. The love story’s pacing was well done, and blinded me to the fact that they were strangers in love. PTSD is a difficult story telling device to tackle and this author executed it brilliantly.

This is also the first story that introduces the rest of the anthology’s characters and it did so in a non obtrusive way that made that ah-ha moment when I was introduced to the other characters later so much better.

Dark Hearts
Aliza Mann
Mitch is a werewolf just trying to get through the month and stay under the radar, but when he meets Aurora, a half-demon, at a party one night, all bets are off. Each has their baggage and it’s only through their commitment to one another will either survive.

This was the first paranormal story of the bunch and jared me a bit when I first began to read it. The abrupt mix of paranormal and the increased raunchy tone of the story left this as my least favorite of the book. The characters were stereotypes and lacked that deeper connection that all of the other stories had. The “imprinting” love that the two characters shared felt too easy, unbelieveable, and even the characters felt like they didn’t want it.

High Stakes
Sage Spelling
Cat is a quiet librarian with a secret and Blake is the jock with family pressure to be more than perfect. When Blake’s family hires Cat to help him raise his grades in all of his classes, they had no idea what they were in for.

Cat and Blake were an excellent pair of characters. Their familial issues and social issues contrasted beautifully with one another and presented real world social issues in an enjoyable way that seamlessly integrated with their love story. Their pressures gave them a similar struggle to bond over and was wonderful to read. My main critique was the abrupt ending, while it’s a short story and there isn’t much room for epilogues, this story’s ending was jarring.

Hunting Witch Hazel
Heather Novak
Grayson and Hazel are two very different people. In fact, they are basically different species, but sometimes love can conquer all, and may even lead to outcomes unexpected.

This was the perfect ending to the anthology. The stories all tied in nicely with a pretty red bow, and even managed to merge the multi genre and paranormal versus real together. Hazel and Grayson also had the most successful of the instant love stories, Partly due to their minor roles in the preceding stories, but there was more to it. Sure, Hazel was described in Mitch’s story and we had some prior knowledge about her. Grayson was mostly a mystery, but with the few sentences of background about how Grayson had been watching Hazel and had been trying to get close to her for quite a long time, it made the reader feel like their relationship had been in progress for a much longer time.

*******I received a copy of this anthology for my honest review*******

You know what was my favorite thing about this anthology? Besides reading fantastic stories? I loved that each story was different, but connected in some way. The setting of the stories are in the same place, which was a nice surprise, and the main characters of each story made an appearance/played a role in each story.

Each book, like I said, was unique. One had elements of BDSM, another was an paranormal romance, another was romance featuring a former marine, one story was about a cocky jock and a hot librarian with a secret, and another was a paranormal forbidden romance. Each story was interesting and likable in its own way. I'll give my thoughts on each story below:

FORBIDDEN: FRESHMAN YEAR (An Erotic Suspense Novella) by Shelly Bell
(5 Stars)

What can I say, I love forbidden romances. Especially student-teacher romances. This one was interesting because the author used elements of BDSM in her novella, which was a bonus to me. It was done tastefully, but still was hot and sizzling. I wish I had a Professor Tristan Kelley at my school! Great novella and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author and these characters!! I loved this story!!

TIN MAN'S DANCE (A New Adult Novella) by MK Schiller
(5 Stars)

First thoughts? I love the symbolism of the title. It was very clever and was perfect for this story. This story was personally my favorite out of this anthology, but all the stories were amazing. I connected to the main characters from the first page. I thought Hutch, the amputated former marine was a complex but captivating character. He was cute, hot, cheeky, and adorable. A perfect book boyfriend! I loved that he went through so much to gain the affections of the woman he cared for and the chemistry between them was electrifying!

DARK HEARTS (A Paranormal New Adult Novella) by Aliza Mann
(4 Stars)

I haven't read a paranormal story in a few months, which shocked me when I read this book because I love this genre. This story reminded me why I love paranormal so much. The mystery. The suspense. The unlimited possibilities! I loved the plot of this novella, it's honestly something I have never read before. I related to both characters and I really enjoyed reading this story!

HIGH STAKES (A New Adult Novella) by Sage Spelling
(4.5 Stars)

Blake is a jerk. But he's a jerk you can't help but love. I adored his character, especially when he was with Cat. There's more to this playboy, cocky jock than I first thought. I think his character was amazing! Cat was such a sweetie and I loved her. She likes books, I like books. That alone should make us best friends. The struggles she goes through were sad, but it added to her character. She was brave and fearless. Love Cat and Blake!!

And the bet Blake made? Really idiotic thing to do, but I think it added to the characterization of Blake's character. You get to see his personality and attitude before he met Cat and than see the person he hid away to avoid being hurt when he was with her and fell in love. Excellent storytelling.

HUNTING WITCH HAZEL: BOOK ONE IN THE LYNCH BROTHERS SERIES (A Paranormal New Adult Novella) by Heather Novak
(4 Stars)

Another forbidden romance novel, but this time, a paranormal one. Like I said, I love forbidden romances and I love that the author made this a paranormal story. The characters were complex in their own ways and I love their backstories. So much was stacked against them, which made the story suspenseful. I never knew what was going to happen next! Great main characters and loved the storyline to this one. Great writing style as well.

This was an amazing anthology and I highly recommend it! It has something for everyone!

I really enjoyed the way that this entire anthology centered around students at Hayvenwood University in the UP of Michigan. Four of the five heroes live in the same condominium as roommates. And two of the women are also roommates. The characters' lives wove through each others quite nicely. I've summarized my thoughts on each book in the order of my preference.

Tin Man's Dance: Lilly Franklin and James "Hutch" Hutchinson
This was my favorite story in the anthology. I mean, seriously, who wouldn't fall for an amazing military man who falls completely head over heels for the heroine and sets out to make her his? This story line really moved me and drew strong emotions from me despite how short the story is. I loved Hutch as well as Lilly. They were kindred spirits and it was lovely to experience their relationship blossom. What appealed to me the most was how they were together nearly the entire story so I really got to experience their relationship growing. They were both so supportive of each other and equally deserved to find happiness.

High Stakes: Sage Spelling: Blake Holland and Catalina Vega
This was another satisfying and unique story. Catalina (Cat) has a medical issue that she is desperately trying to hide, and it keeps her from living her life fully. She's the consummate good girl. Blake is that spoiled and self-centered rich boy who falls for the good girl. And she lets him corrupt her! I loved these two characters. They reminded me of A Walk To Remember.

Hunting Witch Hazel: Grayson Lynch and Hazel Evanora
Oh Hazel. She was such a quirky and fun good witch who was making the best of a really shitty situation and I loved her for it. Grayson was a fun character too - and a witch hunter to boot. Of course it had to be difficult for these two to get together. I enjoyed the way Grayson was perfectly handsome yet completely imperfect. There were a lot of twists in this story that I hadn't anticipated. It really held my attention and I couldn't wait to find out what would happen. But I would have enjoyed more time with the two together building their relationship. It went from almost non-existent to hot and heavy in a very short time.

Forbidden: Freshman Year Tristan Kelly and Isabella Lawson
This was a very steamy short story (with light BDSM elements) and was well written. Personally I struggle with stories that have characters with a significant age difference as was the case here, especially when the hero is a professor and the heroine a student. Whereas the characters in all of the other stories seemed to interact regularly as you would expect college students to do, Isabella was isolated and off in her own world with Tristan.

Dark Hearts: Mitchell Rowland and Aurora Tanner
I liked the concept of a werewolf and a half-demon coming together. The overall story line was good (with Aurora's father) but I wasn't feeling the chemistry between these two characters for some reason.

3.5 Stars- Joint Review with Alexis

We decided to read and review Tin Man’s Dance by MK Schiller from this anthology, because we have loved everything from MK thus far.

Usually with short stories its hard to get into the story or really feel the love between the characters, since the story has to move so quickly. But with Tin Man’s Dance or maybe it’s just the magic of MK Schiller’s writing, you can feel the connection between the main characters almost from the beginning. Plus MK did an amazing job with the military aspect of the story- as the wife of a Marine, Stacia knows a little something about this subject and felt like she nailed it.

“Sometimes you find trouble, and sometimes you find troubled, it takes a smart woman to know the difference.”

Lilly Franklin wasn’t looking for love. She had big dreams for herself with a career in dance; it wasn’t until she met former Marine James “Hutch” Hutchinson that everything changed.
Hutch was just trying to just blend into college life, after an injury forced him to leave the Corps. Woman were the last thing on his mind but after seeing Lilly dance, his heart begins to “beat” for the first time in a long time.

“I didn’t want to be plagued by the past or think about the bleak future. I wanted to drown in the present with Lilly Franklin.”

The orchestrated meeting between them brought a smile to both of our faces and made us swoon hard for Hutch. How could you not want a guy who put so much energy into meeting the one girl who has brought life back into him?You can tell right off the bat that these two are perfect for each other and they chemistry is palpable. Their first night together was beautiful and brought both of their insecurities to the forefront.

These two have a shortened amount of time together and live their time to the fullest. The Tin Man’s Dance shows you that fairy tales really do happen! We both really enjoyed this story and recommend it. But…as we are both super greedy we wished we could have even more of Hutch and Lilly.

I read and am reviewing the Tin Man's Dance by MK Schiller. This isn't the first book I read by this author and every time I read any thing by MK she seems to just blow me away, especially with this one. Military especially The Marines, is a subject that hits home for me. So reading Tin Man's Dance was a nice reminder that we're not alone. James & Lilly's connection and easy banter between each other was so cute. James may act like a tough Marine but he's been through a lot more than most, seen so much more than one deserves and has lost more than anyone can imagine however he still seems to wear his heart on his sleeve especially when it comes Lilly. His nickname given to him by his brother is one he believes is to shame him but its so much more than that, its a nickname of honor and Lilly soon learns how and why he earned such a nickname. I really loved reading Tin Man's Dance and can't wait to read the remainder of the Falling Hard Anthology because I know these authors are just as amazing as MK Schiller. I highly recommend reading this, especially if you love romance with spice!!

Tin Man's Dance - Recommended Read

I received an ARC of Tin Man’s Dance for review

A chance dance recital, a meddling brother, and lust at first sight; a perfect twist(er) in MK Schiller’s contribution to the Falling Hard Anthology.

Dancer Lilly Franklin and wounded warrior James Hutchinson’s first meeting, reads like a fairy tale, though neither of their lives, thus far, has been easy.

But tough choices need to be made in the midst of their whirlwind romance.

Will Lilly leave Hutch hollow-chested once more?
Will the former soldier stay true to form and sacrifice his heart to let Lilly follow her dream? And will she find out too late, there's no place like home?

A lot of story and character development for a novella, almost reads like a full length novel. Although I wish it was because I wouldn’t have minded spending some more time with Lilly and James.

I enjoyed Tin Man’s Dance so much I hope there’s a sequel in the works for Hutch’s brother, up-and-comer indie artist, Colton Keyes! (perhaps trying to find time in his busy concert schedule to attend Lilly and James’ wedding?) :DM.K. Schiller

I am so blessed to have gotten this!!! First of all how can you go wrong with FIVE amazing authors!!!!! Each one brought a story where you were on the edge of your seat in anticipation of what would happen next. Each short story has something different for you to try out. If you are unsure what kind of or type of book you like check this out!!! The awesome part is the same characters reoccur in each of the stories!!! That is right even though five different authors wrote each book you have the same characters showing up to make you feel the familiarty and welcoming in each book. I will not tell you which one was my favorite nor will I give away what is in the books however, what I will tell you is that you should pick up "FALLING HARD" now and see for yourself how phenominally amazing that five authors got together to bring you a world of adventures!
