Tipsy: An Enticing Undercover Cop Take It Off Series Standalone Novel Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 491 ratings

Alcohol isn’t the only thing that can make a girl tipsy.
Julie Preston is an artist. But her canvas isn’t paper or clay. It’s hair. She spends her days coloring, blow drying and styling her clients hair at the Razor’s Edge salon. Julie is also annoyed. She went out on a date and had a great time, gave the guy her number and the jerk never called.
So when he waltzes into the salon and sits down in her chair she briefly considers strangling him with the pink cape she fastens around his neck.
Too bad she can’t.
Blue Markson, the guy who never called, is a police officer so causing him bodily harm would be a first class ticket into the slammer. Just looking at him again makes Julie forget why she was mad in the first place, but she’s already learned that Blue is nothing but heartache. So when he starts coming around, acting like he hadn’t made her stare at the phone for days, she tries to brush him off.
Only…
Her life is about to blow up in her face, she’s about to get caught up in a sticky web of crime and the one guy who can help her is the one guy she vowed never to trust again.

From the Author

Teaser from Tipsy!
I leaned back against my padded headboard and tried to calm my rolling stomach. As I sat there, trying not to barf, a light sound caught my attention.
It was the closing of the front door.
I perked up, forgetting all about the fact I was suffering from an attack of an unsuspecting hangover.
Had I forgotten to lock the door? I never
forgot to lock the door. But I was usually not running from my best friend.
Great.
The one time I don't lock the damn door is the one time a burglar decides to come a' calling.
Too bad for mister criminal I had a plan for something like this. I was the kind of girl that
always had a plan.
I crept into the bathroom, being as quiet as I could, and reached into the cabinet. I pulled out my weapons (hey, all the crap women have to do to themselves to look good definitely qualify as weapons) and gripped them closely to my chest with both hands.
My heart was beating so hard against my ribs that it actually hurt and I had to work to not gasp for breath. Catching my intruder by surprise was key to my plan.
Moving quickly through the dark, I moved to the bedroom door, leaning against the wall and peering out into the darkened hallway. I could see the top of the stairs from where I stood, as well as the railing that ran alongside the hallway to keep someone from falling into the stairwell from upstairs.
Courtesy of the nightlight down in the entryway (it came in handy when I wanted a drink in the middle of the night); I saw a shadow move against the wall. The figure was large and distorted against the tall bare wall of the stairwell.
Up until that point, I hadn't been certain someone was in the house.
But now I couldn't deny it.
There was a robber in my house.
He for sure had nefarious plans.
Too bad for him I had a really shitty night and wasn't in the mood.
As his foot stepped on the bottom stairs, I slinked out the door and along the wall, keeping my eyes trained on the top of the stairs. He began climbing (I was very unimpressed with his quietness, or rather lack thereof), and as he climbed, I slipped along the wall, moving through the darkness until I was standing in the corner directly across from the top of the stairs.
I saw his shoulders appear as he continued upward. He was wearing a dark coat and a dark hat... He was nothing but a large, ominous shape in the night.
I swallowed. The sound of my saliva scraping down my dry throat made me wince, and my palms were sweaty, causing me to tighten my grip on my weapons.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS - PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE THEM :-)

This was another winner in this series. I have enjoyed each of these books, and honestly don't think I could pick a favorite. They're all stand alone books with wonderful characters and we get HEAs every time. What is not to love??!!

Blue is ..... WOW! He's a hot, sexy, protective police officer who also has a great personality and is charming. Blue (BTW what a cool name) is a cop who stops a speeding Julie on her way to work. He doesn't give Julie a ticket on the condition that she'll go out with him to dinner that night. Julie is a beautiful hair stylist who loves life and is witty and fun to be around. The two are instantly attracted to each other and have an amazing time together on their date. Afterwards, Blue tells Julie he'll call her but he never does.

Several months later, Blue shows up at the Salon where Julie works to get her to cut his hair. Julie is still hurt, but the attraction is still strong and still there between them. Blue explains to Julie that he's been out of town on business since their date and couldn't see her. He doesn't tell her he was under cover and couldn't contact anyone. After a couple of weeks and another hair cut, Blue gets Julie to agree to go on a second date. As he's walking out the door to get her, he gets called back to the precinct and placed back under cover immediately. Julie is beyond pissed at being stood up and goes out with her friends to a bar. Guess who she sees there? Yep, except Blue's already under cover and she's hurt he's there. When the drug dealer named Dom that Blue's investigating makes a move for Julie at the bar, Blue snaps and informs him she's off limits. In an attempt to not blow his cover, Blue quickly gets Julie out of there without much explanation to her. Later that night, he shows up at her house because he knows Julie is special and doesn't want her mad at him. Blue makes the decision to tell her that he's working under cover, and tells her to stay clear of Dom, especially now that Dom has seen her and knows they are connected.

There are some twists and turns in the story, and some unforeseen players involved in the drug dealing that you don't expect. Will Blue be able to crack the case quickly before something happens? Will Julie wait for him? What happens if Dom sees Julie again - will he recognize her? I don't want to say anything more because you really want to read this book to experience it all yourself and see what happens to Blue and Julie. You will LOVE Blue, and you will also love Julie. Both are excellent lead characters. The pace of the story is good and you'll want to keep reading to see what happens next.

At the end, readers get a little sneak peak at the next book in this series entitled Tricks coming in early 2014, which looks to be another enjoyable book in this series. The books in this series are all really great books that can be read quickly and leave you with a warm smile.

For the most part, I've really been enjoying Cambria Hebert's "Take It Off" series. The stories are entertaining, sexy and come with a dash of mystery. There's nothing particularly complex or challenging in these tales; more the delivery of feel-good entertainment that's well-written, if slightly cheesy at times. I liken it to visiting your favourite take-away when you're hungry and can't be bothered to make the effort to try out a new, fancier place. You know what you're getting - it's good, satisfying fare that hits the spot, even if it's a little predictable.

This is a story about a nice girl, Julie, who meets a hot cop, Blue, who must then go undercover. Not surprisingly, obstacles to their relationship abound. The book is very much focused on their relationship and on the case Blue is working. For anyone with inside knowledge of how law enforcement works, there are a few moments you'll need to suspend your disbelief, but on the whole it works well enough.

There is plenty of sexual tension, but only one full-on intimate scene; however, I didn't feel the book lacked as a consequence of that. I think there would have been credibility issues with the whole storyline if they were finding time to go at it like rabbits while Blue is working the bad guys. Instead, Hebert has relied upon dual viewpoint and snippets of snappy dialogue to keep the emotions humming along.

In "Tipsy", the author has created two very likeable characters. I would put Julie and Blue as a close second to the characters she created in "Text" and it's interesting to read in the Acknowledgements that these two stories were written almost concurrently, despite the idea of "Tipsy" being conceived many years before. I'm glad Hebert left it until now to write this story, because I think she is improving all the time.

Definitely looking forward to "Tricks", the first chapter of which is provided at the end of "Tipsy". Keep 'em coming, Ms Hebert :)

I chose 5 stars because out of all the books in this series, this is my favorite. Even better than Text. Cambria does NOT disappoint. Julie is a take action woman with a plan and Blues character was hot alpha make with a protective side a mile wide. I love the suspense or the plot. It gripped me to the edge of my seat and it was a TOTAL PAGE TURNER. I couldn't swipe my kindle fast enough. And it's so true, alcohol isn't the only thing to make a girl tipsy. Blue, even undercover Grey? Got scale to like infinity. There's a love scene that will make you blush and beg to b with your man.l or b.o.b for you single women. It's that HAUT. I was privileged with beta reading this, and sigh. I am so glad I got on this authors radar. As I say in each review.... She only gets better. Beyond her writing talents. She exceeds her goal w each new book. For me Tipsy is better than the past few Lora Leigh, Lori Foster, and Cindy Gerard. Julie is unpredictablely predictable. Read it to get my meaning. Their first meeting is funny and something to remember. I'd totally love to b Julie!! Funny- romantic- suspense- action- juicy love scene. It has all the makings of a best seller. In my opinion. No I don't give spoilers but you will not want to miss out so get it! Trust me! I read books from authors that are 8.99+ On KINDLE and this book SHOULD b up there w them. HANDS DOWN CAMBRIA HEBERT IS A RISING STAR. And when a love scene makes you blush but in a good way (unlike some authors w more erotic scenes) it's so worthy of much more than $2.99! So I got mine!!! What are you waiting for???

I loved this. Yet another great story from Cambria Hebert.

This is about Julie Preston & Blue Markson. They went on a wonderful first date together, BUT He never called her back. Months later he strolls into her the hair salon, where she works, as if nothing happened. Julie is seething, but she still feels a spark with him. He is gorgeous after all & He is a police Officer.

Their story really starts when they arrange to go out on a second date & Blue stands her up. Then things get really interesting.

This was a nail biting story. What is Blue up to? AND more importantly will it effect Julie?

A story full of twist & turns, & an exciting story line.

Blue & Julie are so sweet together, you really want things to go well for them.

I love Cambria's books &this did not dissapoint.

This book is filled with just the right amount of sweet, sexy, hot, romance and suspense...
Blue is a sexy police officer who screws up his first chance with Julie and is about to blow his second.... all due to his loyalty to his job.
But, luck is on his side as Julie the hot hairdresser... has no limits where Blue is concerned... their connection is too strong even after one date to ignore it...
This electrifyingly hot budding romance is far from a normal romance.... add into dangerous drug dealers, shady bosses and this story will keep you gripped...
    its a must read....
