English: Botanical name - Ipomoea pes-tigridis

Common names - Tiger’s foot; Bind Weed; Morning Glory Tamil names – PULIKKALI ‘tiger legged ; PULICHUVATI ‘having tiger impression’; PUNAIKKALIK KIRAI ‘ cat-legged pot-herb’. 

Malayalam name - Pulichuvatu

Hindi name - Pancha pathia Flowering , fruiting period - July – February Nativity: Trop. East Africa 

As per studies Leaves are used as resolvent for  Boils, Carbuncles, etc.;Leaves are also used for poulticing Sores;Creeper is extracted and taken for treatment of Rabies;Leaf powder is smoked to get relief from Bronchial spasm; As a herb it is used  for Headaches, Swellings, Poisonous stingsand Snake bites;Leaf paste is useful for Pimples ;Seed paste with coconut oil is applied to heal Wounds .

புலிக்காலி,பூனைக்கீரை எனவும் இது அறியப்படுகிறது : விதையை அரைத்துத் தேங்காயெண்ணெய்யுடன் சேர்த்துப் புண்ணுக்குத் தடவுவர்;கொடியை அரைத்து வெறிநாய்கடி மருந்தாகவும் பயன்படுத்துவர் ;இலை பாம்புக் கடி மருந்தாகும் ; சுவாசக் கோளாறுக்கு இலையைப் புகைப்பர் ;தலைவலி மருந்தாகவும் , வீக்கங்களுக்கு மருந்தாகவும் இக் கொடி நல்ல மருந்தாகிறது .
