Featuring a larger board and bigger pieces than the regular Blokus game, Blokus XL takes less than a minute to learn, but offers endless strategy and fun challenges for the whole family. Each player gets a set of 21 pieces in red, blue, green, or yellow then takes turns placing them on the board. There's just one rule: each piece you play must touch at least one other piece of the same color, but only at the corners! The goal is to fit the most pieces on the board.     Love the game, slight quality issues
    My family played this with a friend a few months ago and loved it so they got it as a Christmas gift. It’s simple enough that my 5 year old can play it but not so simple that my 14 year old or adults get bored. I like that it teaches them strategic thinking and planning ahead. The game board and pieces are sturdy, however, several of the pieces are warped so they don’t seat fully on the board. If not for this issue, I’d give it 5 stars.

      We bought this game as we played it at our friends house at Christmas and we really grew fond of it!
      We love it and it is very good way for the kiddos to learn patience and use their logic to win the game.
      Every time we get better! Really recommend it to everyone! In our family we have 8 and 11 years old children as us parents are 46 and 48! I would recommend it from age 5 up!

      Our 6 year-old granddaughter checked out this game from the library and just loved it. It is pretty simple to play but there is some strategy involved to place your tiles or block the other players' moves. We all enjoyed playing it so I ordered two; one for her birthday and one for us when we're stuck in the house on cold winter days. I ordered the XL option, thinking the pieces would be easier to handle and place on the board.

      I was concerned that with no theme that my girlfriend's family would not like this game but I was wrong. It is a strong favourite for all ages and both girls and boys.

      What I like about this game is that it takes just 2 minutes to explain the rules but takes quite a lot of thought to play and master it. All the boys play it right down to 5 years old although the young ones need a little help. In the middle of the game it can take quite a lot of thought to make the best moves.

      I think it is best played with 4 people. You can play 3 player and take turns to play the dummy hand or play with 2 and control 2 colours. In the box you get a large plastic board and 4 sets of 21 coloured shapes. All the pieces are sturdy and well made plastic. The shapes slot into the grooves of the board and are relatively stable but not completely knock proof. It is important not to loose any bits because that ruins the game so I suggest that you keep the bits in baggies.

      Games are about 30 minutes long.

      Very Pleased that I got this game and I recommend it for all ages if you like a game that will make you think strategically.

      This is one of those games that adults like to play as much as the kids so you won't mind playing it over and over again. Great for pre-schoolers too as they can easily grasp the concept of placing the pieces corner to corner as per the game rules. When not playing a game, mine also like to just put the colorful pieces on the board. This is a game I think younger kids can grow into as there are many different levels of complexity to this board game - from playing with the pieces to the competitive strategist. Who knew such a simple concept for a board game can be so much fun for everyone.
