From Jerry Beavan, here is today's Evangelical Viewpoint on the prophetic pronouncement from "Rev. Bill" – Clinton, that is.

The former president's religious inclinations became publicly known years after the time when, as president, he demonstrated how to avoid telling the truth under oath through use of his caveat: "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is." It was just 3 years ago—July 10, 2010 to be exact—when he took a major religious step, and performed the wedding ceremony of the former flasher, Democrat Representative Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin, longtime aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

But his most recent foray into the realm of religious exposition was his speech in Jerusalem on June 17 of this year when he warned—some might say threatened—Israel with the necessity of making peace with Palestinians—Islamist jihadists—in order to survive as a Jewish state.

He probably found inspiration for his prophetic utterance in Secretary of State John Kerry's speech at the American Jewish Committee Global Forum in Washington on June 4 when he said, “Israel is running out of time. A two-state solution to the Palestinian conflict must be reached sooner the insidious campaign to de-legitimize Israel will only gain steam."

What we have here is the stark choice—you can trust "Rev. Bill's" prophetic position, or you can accept and trust the Word of Jehovah God.

As we look at God's Word, throughout the Bible we find a totally different plan which God has for His people, Israel. This is such a frequently recurring theme in the Bible that there are many expressions of it that can be quoted—but when you are citing God's Word, repetition is not necessary.

God's promise, His pledge, His agreement, His covenant with Israel, as based on the oath of the Lord Jehovah can never be abandoned, can never be terminated, but will endure forever.

First, His covenant with Abraham as recorded in Gen.12:2-3 "I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee and make thy name great ... and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee, and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." And just this one follow-up on that covenant, in Gen.13:14-15 "Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward and westward, for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever."

Then we turn to God's oath to David, the Davidic covenant, as recorded in II Sam. 7, as God spoke to Nathan, "The word of the Lord came unto Nathan, saying, Go and tell my servant David ... I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest ... and have made thee a great name ... moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them in a place of their own, and move no more ... and I will establish his kingdom and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom forever ... and thy house and thy kingdom shall be established forever before thee: thy throne shall be established forever." And just this one follow-up Word, out of many, Psalm 89:34-37, "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. His seed shall endure forever, and his kingdom as the sun before me ... It shall be established forever."

(I like the way my friend, and one-time fellow seminary student, Ken Taylor, expressed God's promise in his "Living Bible:" "For I have sworn to David (and a holy God can never lie), that his dynasty will go on forever, and his throne will continue to the end of time.")

So we have the clear choice—accept and believe the viewpoint of "Rev. Bill" and his colleague, "Rev. Barry" (Obama, that is), and their acolyte or altar boy, John Kerry ... or accept and believe the Bible records as expressing the Word of God. "Rev. Barry" not only goes along with "Rev. Bill's" pronouncements, but also ignores the sixth commandment, and advocates the killing of babies based on the non-Biblical premise of "woman's choice," and he goes further in his misinterpretation of the New Testament by asserting that Jesus supported same-sex marriage.

For a Christian believer, it is uncomfortable to be a citizen of a nation whose government takes such a firm stand in opposition to the will, plan and purpose of Almighty God. But since Jesus declared that we are to be both light and salt in the world, it is clearly our God-given responsibility to get involved and do all that we can to make a difference in public life. That is today's Evangelical Viewpoint.

And now here is today's attention-getting, thought-provoking statement which we found in our research.

Here is a strong statement from "Freedom Outpost"—There are always two stories in America. There is the one that comes from Obama’s mouth and then there is the truth."

Rather than offer our own comment on that statement, we thought it would be appropriate to offer this quote from Founding Father, Thomas Jefferson, in 1785: "It is of great importance to set a resolution, not to be shaken, never to tell an untruth. There is no vice so mean, so pitiful, so contemptible; and he who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and a third time, till at length it becomes habitual; he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world's believing him. This falsehood of the tongue leads to that of the heart, and in time depraves all its good disposition." Obviously a dramatic change in those 228 years!
