City Council budget workshop & budget hearing
The
City of Evanston has released its proposed budget for the 2015 Fiscal Year. The
$260 million budget includes a balanced General Fund without a net increase in
property taxes and with no planned staff layoffs. Residents are invited to attend a public hearing on the budget on Saturday, October 25, at 9 a.m., in the Council Chambers.

It’s the season for tricks and treats, candy and costumes, and pumpkins and pumpkin pie. This year your family can enjoy everything from a Fall Fest at the Farmers’ Market to a free Halloween Skate Party and more! Door-to-door residential trick-or-treating Official trick-or-treating hours for the City of Evanston are 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 31.
Evanston children are encouraged to participate in the ELIMINATE Project, a partnership between the Kiwanis Club of Evanston and UNICEF looking to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. When children trick or treat, they will be asking for change for their UNICEF partners. For more information, please contact Dr. Scott Hopf at 847-475-4270.

Halloween for Little Ones Age: Preschool Robert Crown Community Center, 1701 Main St. Friday, October 31, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. FREE
There will be games and prizes, play time activities, face painting, a musical story time, balloons and more!
Halloween After School Age: 6-12 Robert Crown Community Center, 1701 Main St. Friday, October 31, 3:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. FREE
From spooky corners to creative activity centers, the gym will be transformed into a Happy Halloween place to play. Treats and a free public ice-skating one-time pass will be provided to kids in costume.
Halloween “HallaDaze” Age: All Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St. Friday, October 31, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. FREE
The evening will include arts and crafts and a story hour from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. A fun house will also be available for the kids to explore from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Halloween Skate Party Age: All Robert Crown Community Center, 1701 Main St. Friday, October 31, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. FREE
The first 50 skaters who come in costume will receive free admission and skate rental!
Public meeting/Open house: Emerson/Ridge/Green Bay street project
Evanston community members are invited to attend an open house public meeting to discuss the Emerson St., Ridge Ave. and Green Bay Rd. intersection improvement project and improvements to the Green Bay Rd. corridor, between Emerson St. and McCormick Blvd.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 29, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Hilton Garden Inn Chicago North Shore/Evanston, located at 1818 Maple Ave., in Evanston.
