“Under that Rain” is an old school adventure psychological horror game in pixel art .In a rain that never stops, a man faces an endless nightmare.

Story
It was nightfall and Andrè Lacroix, a social worker from Paris, opened the last folder of the day. Outside, it was starting to rain. He read the name on the top of the dossier “Adrien Luis Lazarius”, an orphan given in custody to his aunt who lives in a manor house outside the town. Suspected child abuse, reported the file.
Something snapped deep down in Andrè,he lost his self-control. He jumped up and quickly left the room. He didn’t care about the rain that had started to fall, he had to know. In an instant that file had become his only obsession.
Upon reaching the house he understoodthathe was right to be worried. The child was missing and the people at the manor house were acting as if they had something to hide.
So began Andrè’s journey into the horrible facts surrounding that house. He will be overwhelmed by a strange kind of nostalgia mixed with a horrible form of oppression. This will lead our hero to find answers. Soon he will learn that nothing is as it seems and that sometimes the worst atrocities could be made even worse.
An old Manor house in theParisian country-side in endless rain, where feelings like love, hate, fear and vengeance will bring to life unimaginable and repulsive horrors.
Our proposal
We are an Italian team with different skills , 2D artist ,programmer, writer and musician .
Our purpose is to create an adventure game, connecting the best of modern storytelling techniques such as the Quick Time Events to the well-know feature of old style point-and-click adventure games such as big enigmas and good story duration.We will develop an amazing adventure game with an intricate plot, that will directly affect the player’s very soul, something very special!
At his arrival to the manor, Andrè, the main character, will show his pure spirit, his good will, the qualities of a man always ready to help anyone in distress (especially children). He will be the key player and witness to events that will force him to make difficult and cruel choices, changing him within , ripping apart his soul.
Can he remain the same person? How will these choices affect him?
We will integrate some special events into this adventure, which will require not only your best deductive skills but also your speed. Do you think you are fast enough ?
In “Under that Rain” we are not proposing just an adventure, but an amazing and profound story that wants to investigate the human soul, looking into that dark corner of each and every one of us that we intentionally ignore .
who are we? Are we the hero or (just another) the coward?

F.A.Q.
Why Indiegogo ?
This project began almost one year ago, with the collaboration of Riccardo Agea and Massimo Colella. After a while we relized that:

We would have never been able to include all the things we wanted and still deliver the game in a realistic timescale

the plot has taken on a life of its own and it did not seem to ever reach an end. We decided to split the story into two big episodes . This allowed us to propose a game with relatively low production costs for both the episodes
What inspired you for the story?
As reference point we were inspired by the dreamlike enviroment of Howard Phillips Lovercraft’s works and Gothic suggestions by Edgar Allan Poe. The locations are totally designed by us , based on XIX century’s residences.
Then Why 15.000 ?
This might seem as a lot of money , but it is not . We tried to keep our budget to a minimum, but there is a lot of costs , even staing in low side.
We stronlgy believe in this project and we really want to create this game , and show you what an amazing and thrilling game this is .
But why 30.000?
As mentioned , trying to keep our budget as low as possible we were forced to split the story, It’s an opportunity , if you achieve this target we will be able to develop the entire game with no future campaign. Otherwise after the release of the first chapter we will start a second campaign for the second episode
If you do not reach 30000 I will never see the full end then?
We believe in our skills and in this game , we are sure that after the game release will be easier for us to reach the goal and collect the remaining funds for the second episode (15000)
The full localisation will be only on 36000?
No, in the case we will stop at 18000 , we will guarantee the other translations for the first episode
Why release smartphone version only when you reach 40000?
At this moment we want to focus mainly on the game release,the various changes that should be necessary are too expensive for us , both for the purchase of the program for the settings and for the testing .Then we tought that the first objective for us is to give you an amazing adventure , and only afterwards we will carry on with the subsequent stages.
Will the dubbing will be included?
For the dubbing we tried to include it inside the campaign , but we are not able to quantify its costs a cost for this, we have the story but we are working on the dialogue of the cast, until we finish this part we will not have a realistic estimate of the costs of dubbing.
“Under That Rain” is a game complete even without the dubbing but yes we would like to hear Andrè’s voice , We are waiting to see how this campaign goes and then decide if we can do something about it
