Celebrated actress Lea Salonga is set to return to the New York spotlight for one night only this weekend in a new solo concert. NY1’s Frank DiLella recently sat down with the performer to talk about her new show and more. He filed this report.

She is the Tony-winning actress who gave life to Kim, the young heroine in the original London and Broadway productions of "Miss Saigon."

Not to mention, she's a Disney princess times two and an all-around international music star. Now, Lea Salonga is returning to Gotham for one night only in a brand new solo show called "Kaleidoscope."

"Whenever you look at a kaleidoscope, you turn it around, you see something different,” says Salonga. “Like, if you turn me around, something different is going to happen. There will be pop, there will be musical theater - there's going to have to be musical theater."

Speaking of musical theater, the actress returned to London this past September to celebrate the 25th anniversary of "Miss Saigon."

"The whole place felt electrified. That's the best way I can describe it," says Salonga.

While the actress says she hopes the London revival of "Saigon" will make it across the pond sometime in the near future, as for her next Broadway stint, she's in talks to star in a new musical called "Allegiance." Salonga performed in the world premiere production in San Diego back in 2012. The show is set during the Japanese American internment of World War II.

"The show itself and what it's about is still relevant and biting, and I'm hoping that there is a lot of bit, that heads roll, and people get very much affected by it," she says.

Of course, we'll keep you posted on Lea's return to Broadway. Until then, you can catch the actress in concert for one night only, this Saturday night at Town Hall.
