Spring players of the week announced, April 28

Each week during the spring season, readers will have the chance to vote on the top players of the week in baseball, softball, lacrosse, track, volleyball and tennis. Ballots come out early in the week and voting ends at 3 p.m. Fridays, with the results posted by 5 p.m.

Coaches, athletes and fans can nominate athletes through Sunday for the following week's ballot. Here's an article that gives details on how.

Please note, winners cannot appear on the ballots again until the postseason begins, but athletes can be nominated more than once. Questions? Email mlaughman@enquirer.com.

The winners are:

Baseball: Brian Haberer, Loveland – The senior pitched a complete game 4-0 victory over ECC rival Anderson last week, his second complete game in a row. He recorded 13 strikeouts in both games. He leads the ECC in innings pitched (29.1) and complete game shutouts (2), and has four wins.

Softball: Kelsey Seitz, Milford - Seitz finished the week 9-for-13 at the plate, including four home runs, 12 RBI, a double, seven runs and two walks. In a win over Mount Notre Dame, Seitz had an incredible day, hitting three home runs and picking up nine RBI against the No. 8 team in the area. The Eagles have won 15 straight and conclude this week 16-1 overall and 9-0 in Eastern Cincinnati Conference play.

Boys track: Wyatt Lefker, Williamsburg

Williamsburg junior Wyatt Lefker won the pole vault at the Anderson Invitational April 20.

– Wyatt broke the school record in the pole vault on Thursday night with a vault of 14 feet.

Girls track: Ali Neumeier, Lakota East – Ali finished first in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:30.05 and the 1600 meter run with a 5:24.80 at the Lakota East Jason Lindsey Invitational.

Boys lacrosse: Alec McClellan, Loveland – Alec leads the ECC in saves with 68 on the season in only seven games played.

Girls lacrosse: Madeline McCrackin, Kings – McCracklin is second in the ECC in goals scored with 23, to set the tone for the third-place Knights.

Boys volleyball: Andy Schmidt, McNicholas - In two matches on Wednesday and Friday versus Fenwick and Carroll, the senior captain had 33 kills, 32 digs, 7 blocks and 4 service aces to help McNick take over sole possession of second place in the GCL Coed league. He’s third in the league in kills with 105.

Tennis: JacobElstun, Walton-Verona – He beat brother Ben Elstun to win the NCKC conference title and they led the Bearcats to the team championship.
