Johor's Sultan Ibrahim no longer granting audiences until Jan 31

JOHOR BARU: Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar will not be granting any audiences until he assumes the role of the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 31.

His Majesty decreed that he would not be accepting any more appointments except for previously scheduled events as well as the weekly audiences with the Johor Mentri Besar and state government.

"From today onwards until I take my oath as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, I will not be accepting any more requests for an audience with me.

"During this time, I wish to spend quality time with my family before undertaking this enormous responsibility," said His Majesty in a statement posted on his official Facebook page here on Saturday (Jan 6).

Sultan Ibrahim will assume the role of the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 31, 2024.

The Conference of Rulers at its 263rd Special Meeting on Oct 27 elected Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong for five years.

Sultan Ibrahim will replace Pahang's Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, whose reign will end on Jan 30.
