A lot of data came out overnight and on Tuesday morning, giving the market a good update on how the biggest global economies are performing.
Overnight, both Japan and China released manufacturing reports. Both sets of numbers missed economist estimates, with China's number coming at 49.2, below the 50 level that indicates an expansion.
